Re: 6N Rd.3 - Ireland v Italy. Sun Feb 27th, KO @3pm GMT

Incidentally, on the "you can't give vdF MOTM if we gave up penalties at the breakdown," the first of those penalties was when the Irish player who ran for 20m off a JGP offload and got turned over in the Italian 22 for lack of support was... Josh van der Flier. Those complaining that VdF didn't ca...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

65 minutes without Henderson was odd tbf. You keep saying this, so I'll bite: it really wasn't. He's had little game time, Ryan and Beirne were doing fine, and there were concerns around injuries with Conan and then POM. Weirder that Carty only got 2 minutes. And he did himself no favours with that...

The kicking tactics and execution were off today.

Correct that and we're there.

Disappointed but it wasn't a bad performance, and we encountered a good French team in Paris.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Great second half but we killed ourselves through handling errors and sloppy play in the first half Sheehan likely to take over for Kelleher on that showing Thought Joey was good bar one or two poor kicks. If he can stay fit he can work there. Can see the French side being beaten so we’re still in ...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Keenan had a poor enough game, few high profile bad moments. That said, he's been excellent for what, 2 years? Knives out for him immediately, and mostly by guys who want their guy in instead. I'd rather Balacoune starts at 14 against Italy, if one of the Ulster guys comes in. He's more of a future...

Re: 6N Rd. 2 France v Ireland, Sat Feb 12th, 16:45 GMT

A few too many mistakes by Ireland. The call to go for points cost us.

Also, whoever decided on the kicking tactic needs a telling off.

But the French were very good, great match, ref was good and all played in good spirit.
Close but no cigar this time.

Sheehan is a young little legend.

With those points we'll still lose. Shame about the call to go for the points earlier.
Or about the previous line-out Hendo didn't catch.

Good match though.

Some harsh comments on here.
The French are good, we've had a few errors, and we've kicked too much ball away.
Missing Sexton as well to take some control.

Not great, but not a horror show either. All to play for in the second half.

If you were happy with 3 points, why waste 3 minutes by going for the corner twice?! :?

You lads sure do have your mind made up about Murray. He got 10mins and thought he played well. Beirne was MOM for me. I'm not a fan, but he had some nice breaks (Murray that is) He did have some nice breaks, but he also killed a few moves by slow ball or switching play without any clear plan.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

The halfbacks subs are a problem. We can't dedicate ourselves to quickball when Murray is still in the 23. JGP was not great in the first half, but improved in the second half. But the likes of Casey and Doak should be ahead of Murray. Also putting Ringrose on the wing was a waste - he found/created...

Leading with the shoulder, i.e. was never going to be able to catch a ball.

Which is just daft of Adams, on penalty advantage and on attack.

Reversed penalty would have been enough for me, but the stupidity of it is obvious.

Nordies picking on Ringer  Not like there's an Ulsterman on the bench they want on.

JGP not on great form today. Sexton was too slow in that final attack - pass a second quicker and Ringrose was through an easy gap.

Decent performance, but dropped off after a great first 10 minutes.
