Re: Bands you are off to see live
OK, thank you for that counterpoint. Enjoy… Boy & Bear. I will Im not deriding your list which you seem hurt about, Im not Bungle but if you think that is a great list of touring bands compared to what used to come these shores then youre clueless. Not enough… Foo Fighters? Hey, Pearl Jam (with the...

Re: Melbourne Rebels... faaaaarked!
Rebrand as the Southern Brumbies, with half their games played in Canberra and half in Melbourne? Nah. It’s hard enough building momentum and a fan base with only half a dozen home games a year. 3 or so would be suicide. Call them the Melbourne Brumbies and be done with it. Play all games in Melbou...

Re: Melbourne Rebels... faaaaarked!
Sorry. Just angry about what I’ve seen For example, I’ve seen the best player come out of Adelaide playing 3rd grade colts behind some Tarquin from Scots etc. It boils my blood so it does. Our system is fecked and no one upstairs cares. Sorry Who was that? When I was playing at Gordon we took in a ...

Re: Melbourne Rebels... faaaaarked!
I would like to see a Melbourne Rebels team join the Shute Shield. Well I’d prefer each “Super” team to be a rep team of club comps. Dewar Shield produces the Rebels/Axemen. Perth produces the Force. Sydney has catchment areas with 2/3 teams. Hospital cup 2 etc. Build a proper pyramid. Sydney needs...

Re: 2024 U20 Rugby Championship
Disappointing performance from the SA team. But then rather now then in the JWC. NZ team look in much better state as last years lot. We need to keep this tournament going. 6 Nations U20 has shown what's needed. All it need is good crowds. But then never in RL country. Its a poor venue selection, w...

Why do people feel local comps need to be massively expanded? If Rebels are to go they cease to exist.
Dont turn them into some statetrotting sideshow.

Boy n Bear in a few weeks. Have to say, quality of touring bands in Oz has been pretty poor added to that the death of the festival here. One already cancelled this year I was attending.

Re: Melbourne Rebels... faaaaarked!
I wouldn’t describe the VRU as a high performing organisation. Talent finds its way through in spite of. What we’ve seen work really well is the replication of Super at the junior level. My concern earlier was that the Rebels brand is all over jr development. Without an elite team to aspire to acad...

Re: League players are no good in Union
I dont think Marky Mark will go that well on the dark side. It will depend who is inside him in the halves. His defence is average(of late) and he tends to turn over the pill a lot. There is no doubting the high level of skill in loig and they play a lot of games. It does not always translate well ...

Yeah I played union with a guy who was from a league background in HK. No league in HK so this was his only option. He was about 20kg less than me but god he hit hard. Absolute farm boy strong if you know what I mean. Problem was that if the tackle wasn’t directly in front then he was a bit at sea ...

If the business plan is to make off the Wallabies only these losses will be intermittently permanent. Need to make money from the domestic game as well.
