Re: Trans-Tasman comp to replace Super Rugby in 2021

Well, this will clearly be the high quality opponent that is so important to the prime directive of the review. What a farce. NZR is grasping at straws if they think this will fly. The only possibility here is that the PRC is actually paying, in which case - all yours. .. Bay of Plenty and th...

Re: Is it time to cancel racism?

That's a technique of the ultra-right mentalists. They say the average person is better off today than the average person in 1750 so everything which has occurred between then and now is a success, presumably including the East African slave trade. Arab and Swahili traders played a not insig...

Re: Is it time to cancel racism?

None of the above is a criticism of HK by the way. He's one of the few mods who doesn't have an agenda, or at least can put it aside when moderating. Is this the same HK who, in his capacity as a mod, made less than veiled threats to both Sensible Stephen and myself over differences in opinion rega...

If climate is a deciding factor I think I'd avoid Hawera quite frankly. The people saying it's always blowing a gale down there are right, it's generally at least a couple of degrees colder than NP whenever I drive down. I feel dirty for saying this, but it's somewhere I'm potentially looking at buy...

Re: Trans-Tasman comp to replace Super Rugby in 2021

A local comp will be fun, but at the moment there are only 5 teams, so we are no better situation than NZ in that regard. For me a TT comp is by far and away the optimum. Yeah. Nah. I was once a supporter of the idea of a TT competition but the more I've watched SR Au the more I've enjoyed it and r...

Maybe you could try answering your own question Dark. My guess is the enormous cost to the taxpayer and effort of introducing fluoridation makes it a dead duck to a party already perceived as being 'generous'. A long but worthwhile read from Kevin Rudd on the current state of the US-China relationship. https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/united-states/2020-08-03/beware-guns-august-asia In just a few short months, the U.S.-Chinese relationship seems to have returned to an earlier, more primal age. I don't usually get (publicly) involved in this sort of debate, largely because it's so toxic and I don't really think my thoughts and opinions on it will serve any positive purpose. However, there have been some posts bemoaning the lack of input from female players. This is a complex issue (not ju...

I'd take booing over personal abuse, especially when you're sat so far away that the ref / player isn't even likely going to hear: "You're a fcuking cheat, Smith!" ... just the kids sat nearby. :? But what if he is a cheat and they're just letting him know? ;) FWIW, I see sledging as OK by spectato...

Re: IRB first to call bullshit on Trans Sport

Should 10 year olds not be trusted with something as potentially damaging as who wins or loses the game they just played? I'm happy for 10 year olds to play for premierships. But with much younger kids, the scorelines are completely irrelevant and are only of concern to the adults. I'd need some mo...

Also in England in mini rugby ,matches the scores are no longer recorded. (no winners and no losers) I really hope that's not true, but if it is it's pathetic and the RFU need to take a hard look at themselves. Why bother playing the game at all? Booing in rugby matches

Recently in a group chat I'm in with a bunch of guys from my rugby club, somehow the issue of booing in games came up. I think I'm possibly being trolled by my mate but we had a heated debate in which he described himself as 'pro-booing' and claimed it added to the atmosphere of the games he attende...

Steven Jones is a white privileged colonial bigot ... Who appointed him judge, jury and executioner of the 65,000 registered rugby players in Fiji? Who gave him powers to dish out collective punishment to 65,000 mostly black players like their right to play the game does not matter. What crime did ...

Devil's advocate here - is it that millions of Chinese are emigrating in an unusual pattern or is it just that there are 1.5bn of them and they emigrate in the same proportion as any other country, thus creating what looks like an exodus to us? I don't think that you can look at it as "proportion"....
