Re: Favourite Rugby Commentator
Kearns was the myopic one. Of the two you mentioned, anyway. Mexted loved free flowing rugby and psychic energy. He could get deep about the game. Kearns just got bitter. Kearns played a character when he was commentating. He was unashamedly biased - but that's not necessarily a bad thing in the co...

Re: Waratahs vs Crusaders Match Thread
Ignore this. Checked the laws and the kicker has 90 seconds. Saders’ fans have a legit gripe here. He kicked it before the 90 seconds expired, which means Tahs can kick it off. How does that work as he kicked it when the clock was red? Obvious to me the match clock didn't align with clock we were w...

So how did this guy have a gun licence if he had mental health issues? ffs!! Do you know anything about what happened? Did you read a single article? And you posted this shit??? There has been some talk the perpetrator liked to shoot guns. Perhaps that is what Trance is referring to? Otherwise :?

Re: Favourite Rugby Commentator
Who is your favourite rugby commentator. For me it would be Benjamin Kayser followed closely by Justin Marshall. Ridiculously good knowledge of the game and easy to listen accents. Same probably Phil Kearns used to make me laugh. Mexted was myopic but a legend all the same. Can’t stand the Scottish...

Not a fan of Ryle Nugent. Irritating voice and don’t like his style. I never had a problem with Harrison and Barnes. In fact we switched to them (Sky option) during the 2005 Lions series. Helped that they were getting their arses kicked. Saffers always tend to be incredibly earnest and boring. Blade...

Re: SRP Rd 8 - Rebels v Highlanders
Yeah this Lancaster kid is alright. Barrett-esque pickup at ankle height then hits the afterburners. Class. Yeah. That’s just elite. Some guys could make that catch but likely not erupt with such speed. Some can take a more standard intercept and hit the gas. Not many can do both so seamlessly.

Here's a challenge. I did dry Feb. Looked into a few non alcho beers. All I found without much effort was Little Creatures Flying low which was just a quencher on a hot day. Anyone come across anything tasty for the cellar for next time, pre really something winter drinkable. A mate sells amazing s...

Re: Fantastic Rassie Analysis
For what it's worth, I think Rassie is a great man manager and tactician for one-off matches... not so great over the long haul... How many RC's has he won? SA have only won once since 2009. You'll be calling Gareth Southgate a genius next if he wins the World Cup... Technically, Rassie has only co...

Lying doctors… Mike Bowen, 73, is 'hanging up his stethoscope' after 44 years at Glenview Medical Centre and rated working with the All Blacks as a career highlight. But Bowen told Stuff that it also brought the most testing moment of his career. Two days before the '95 World Cup final in South Afri...

The entire team, management and security just made it up? They were sick and you know it. Not saying it was intentional. To be precise, it was some All Black players, Laurie Mains and Rory Steyn (former Mandela bodyguard) Steyn came out after the final and blamed betting syndicates for the poisonin...

Re: World Rugby to curtail Bok's Bomb Squad
Huh? Are you saying that a high injury rate is important to you? Not at all, not sure why you would think that? I don't, however, think that reducing the number of subs is going to reduce the size of the players to the extent that it will reduce injuries, not to any significant level anyway. To do ...

Re: Pie Makers of Auckland
A lot of mutton pies tend to be dry. But this, when cooked well, has sufficient liquid fat that makes parts of the pastry transparent and lets you know you're heading to an early grave. Just heaven to eat.

Kolbe's charge down of Ramos's kick sounded like a gunshot. Extra time in 1995 competing the first time since decades of isolation. Danie Rossouw's Try saving tackle on Mark Cueto in 2007. PSDT's 28 tackles in the 2023 Final. Mapimpi and Kolbe's Tries in 2019 and many more defying WC winning moment...

I came across this on Dave Gallaher the skipper of the AB Originals: The Athletic News' description of Gallaher in 1905 as "a first-rate obstacle of the passive resister kind" was among the milder critiques. Subsequent New Zealand chroniclers like JJ Stewart, Terry McLean and Winston McCarthy have ...

Forever the refrain. Back in 1976 having lost the series when leaving the Republic with their tails beween their legs JJ Stewart the AB coach said - "We outplayed South Africa. South Africa outkicked us. Goodbye rugby." ... and "“I’ll be glad to get out of this stinking country.” Were Māori allowed...
