Re: All Blacks 2025
Fair to say Bryn Evans’ appointment as lineout coach is looking astute after some of the moves and trick plays we’ve pulled so far? Our lineout looks better than it has since the peak Kieran Read era. Was at game, our lineout was bloody good, and having a couple of good size locks tend to give you ...

Just watching Fox NRL on stream because nothing else to do ... and wtf. Re: All Blacks V France B 2nd Test Match Thread.
And if we're going to be talking about potential RWC squads in two years time, we've got to talk about who the ABs' second half-back is. At the moment, there's daylight between Roigard and the next best halfback. I think we'll take three halfbacks to the 2027 RWC, Roigard, Ratima and Hotham. Cam Ro...

Re: All Blacks 2025
Why is the 4th-best Lock Captain of the All Blacks? Is this based on 1-2 games against a sub-strength French team? It is. But Scott Barrett will need to lift his performance when he returns, otherwise this narrative will only get stronger with time. I mean he had a great SR season for the Crusaders...

Well I think we've found our next longterm no.6. Well done Scott Robertson, the AB's have been desperate for a blindside flanker since Jerome Kaino's loss of form prior to his departure, and Razor has found it in Tupou Vaa'i. Now he just needs to build cohesion in the midfield, and build depth off t...

Re: The Training Thread - all aspects of fitness and health
My understanding is that you need to do weighted exercises for abs, with progressive overload to make them really “pop”. But we all have abs. I think emaciated POWs had just lost so much muscle all over—they weren’t getting anywhere near enough protein—that the abs they would have kept just disappe...

Re: The Training Thread - all aspects of fitness and health
Abs might be further off than you think. Over the past decade and a half I’ve gone from 94 kgs to 70kgs. Even when I was at my leanest—68 kgs—abs were only just barely visible. I weighed in at 99.5kg at what I'd estimate at around 25/26% body fat - so would need to lose about 10kg overall to get to...

I'm not a fan of the rearranging the team for substitutions. It causes disruption and cohesion issues. Outside of injury players should be replaced directly. Having Kirifi on the bench as a substitute for Lio-Willie doesn't make sense. So just to clarify, your gripe of the day is that Robertson is ...

Nothing to do with age, he's just not as good as you're making out, he's a Super Rugby superstar and no better a test player than BB or DMac, and certainly not worthy of overhauling our eligibility laws like you and your fellow Cantabs want. Call me old fashioned but the halves pairings have traditionally been important for champion teams. Yep, and that's why Robertson has the two best 9's and 10's in NZ in his 23. The great thing about this victory was how poorly we were rated. Nobody expected us to win. Even parochial QLD fans expected us to lose the series. Billy Slater is an absolute genius and the QLD spirit just came to the fore. Shibasaki and Papalii, what great stories.

Tbh, I suspect at the top level, Pacific Islanders are now more interested in Rugby League than Rugby.
