Re: The future of Moana Pasifika?

Let's just say, I wouldn't think WR is getting their money's worth if their support of MP is based on promoting Samoan and Tongan rugby and it's not surprising that they're pulling it. So your criteria for MP being subsidised to a degree by WR is that anyone they select must play for Tonga or Samoa...

Result largely as expected. Not as dominant performance as last time these teams met by the Lions but restarts apart they will be reasonably happy. Pollock and Daley best for me. Scrum not as dominant as probably expected. Just looking back through game comments. I thought Pollock was good, great r...

Re: The future of Moana Pasifika?

He's currently being paid by WR (to an extent), who bankrolls the team in a bid to promote rugby in the PIs. MP is merely a 6th NZ team that does little if anything for the PIs. They're also paying an Englishman. I feel like I'm having a rugby version of a discussion with Bimbot. Let's just say, I ...

Ben allowed 20 points of sealing off for force Well considering you can't tell when a player hasn't released in a tackle I'm probably going to be a bit sceptical. Considering both hands were free and on the ball I’d be less sceptical of my judgement Considering you have to make it clear to the ref ...

Keenan/Kinghorn will struggle to do better than Daly did today.
Daly's versatility could see him on the bench - he covers the 3/4 's and FB.
That's where I think he will be.

Re: The future of Moana Pasifika?

NZ obviously does a lot for the Samoan and Tongan national teams, but it's not a good look for a PI team that WR supports financially to have Taumoefolau, and perhaps others, gunning for the All Blacks. It's one thing to sign a capped AB to make the team more competitive but it's another entirely f...

RA had originally planned to have the team in Sydney but NZR suddenly announced that it was going to start Moana in NZ. IMO they did this specifically to stop the RA plan for 2 reasona. 1. Re: The future of Moana Pasifika?

The reason I always felt that MP were a dead team walking is because they didn't have any Rugby infrastructure supporting them. NZ Super Rugby teams are supported by the provinces, which themselves are supported by club and school comps. MP had none of this. And whilst NZ has a huge Pasifika popula...

If we are 20 years to the day since the BOD incident we must be about 20 years and one week since D’Arcy’s spear on Tipoki. I think this is part of what NZs found hard to take at the time.
