Re: Hunting and Hunters

I'm a terrible Deer hunter that usually ends up potting Rabbits. Learned from my brother and the interwebs. Its a bit of a bother regulation wise in Australia, but is good fun regardless. AFAIK you apply for either/or an open area or restricted area hunting licence from the Department of Conservati...

Re: NRC - Update

I'm very worried about this whole thing. Why? It's going to be a repeat of the ARC, at a time when the finances aren't great anyway. Its going to be nothing like the ARC. You have just revealed how little you know about the NRC. 1. Fox Sports funding and broadcasting, rather than paying ABC to broa...

Re: attention Super Rugby fans: what team to cheer for

Fair comment by all but this year's Lions must get serious consideration for unaligned support :) - With one 20 minute Bok in their side and about 17 SR freshmen they will always be the underdogs in any match - Playing with heart and enjoyment - Playing an attractive brand of rugby even though thei...

Re: SBW vs Sam Burgess - NRL's biggest rivalry to union

The NRL is a pretty good feeder league. Indeed, Keiran Foran and Shaun Johnson are nearly ready to be tapped on the shoulder by the NZRU to make the step up to real rugby for us and the progress of the likes of Greg Inglis and Ben Barba must be very pleasing from a Future Wallabies Development Squa...

Re: The Intellectual Snobbery of Conspicuous Atheism

What annoys people is Preaching. I'm what I would describe as an apathetic agnostic, aka - you can't prove the existence of god, so why bother worrying about it. Religions almost certainly arose to help people explain the unexplainable. There will always be things that are unexplainable, so religion...

The Tahs are like the Chicago Cubs.

Big market, a loyal corps of fans, but most of the rest of the city cheers for someone else, they often promise early but never win anything.

Plus the mascot is stupid.

Estonians hate Russians. Latvians hate them even worse, but the languages are similar and they look similar, so its less noticeable.

I think Estonia is about 25% ethnic Russians and Latvia about a third.

Re: Sydney Waterfront Public Housing to be sold

I have zero sympathy for these people. If you live in public housing, you have no say in what the government does with the property, like any other renter. They are entitled to due notice and to see out their tenancy agreement, like any other renter. Why should they get rental assistance to live in...

I'd expect they would base the country team out of Newcastle, Wollongong, Central Coast, or maybe a large regional centre like Coffs or Wagga. What do you mean by "base" the team, though? How is it 5 times? It is 8.

The draw is weird, with the 3N potentially all on the same side.

Remember 2007? The major players could get knocked out at the quarter final level. It seems more likely now than it did then.

I'd argue that it is too early to write off the Argies. Their form last year was admittedly shit. They have a new coach that is capable of coaching. Through the Pampas system their younger players have been exposed to tougher opposition earlier. Forwards as always are excellent, and their backs have...
