We have a park behind our house and it's been great to take the little ones to, but yesterday about 5 families descended on it sharing food,kicking the footy, not many masks etc.

Wouldn't think it would apply as if the ball is moved to the back of the maul attempt, the lineout should be over but you can't always rely on that. If a defender is not engaged, there is no maul. So if a team sets up for a maul, do not engage a defender, and send the ball to the back, all a defender has to do is run into the front man and that's an obstruction penalty.
