Re: Wallabies 2025: Revenge of the Schmidt
The other thing with Lynagh is that, even as he gets older and more experienced, he is not going to get any bigger. Teams are not going to stop attacking his channel. It was night and day between him and JOC when he came on. I’m not sure why people are discussing whether Marky M can make it back to ...

Re: TRC 2025 - Wallabies tour of South Africa
Tom Robertson to start is a bit of a surprise. He scrummed well for the force vs the Lions, but that seemed a one off.

Rassie saying it's going to be a grind. Wallabies know what to expect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZCF6WLqHB4&t=271s He is scary intelligent as a coach. I’m gonna say, it’s the two smartest coaches in the world against each other next weekend. We are poor against the high ball. JGP did it rele...

Re: TRC 2025 - Wallabies tour of South Africa
Changes I'd like to see for the Wobs this week: 1. Angus Bell, who appears to have rediscovered his mojo, to start at LHP with Aidan Ross to the bench 2. BPA to start at hooker and shore up the scrum with Pollard to the bench 8. Bobby V to replace Big H (that's what we call him now, right?) 11. Too...

Re: Australia to win the Rugby Championship
After that whooping, Olo might actually be onto something. Although it might be the Saffas in 4th not 2nd. They might jag a win against Australia next week, then get a couple more wallopings from the Kiwis and then at least one loss to the Jaguars. At this stage they should be aiming to at least mak...

A more interesting one to investigate would be what the long term effects of the Kymer Rouge was on Cambodia. They basically wiped out all of the intelligentsia, school teachers etc. It would probably be considered improper and racist to do so. But that had to have an effect on the remaining populat...

We won’t. But we almost should just take a training squad over to play the Springboks, stay fresh and try to jag a game against the ABs and Argentina.

Re: RC Springboks vs Wallabies in South Africa
I feel a bit sorry for Schmidt. We’re going to play the number 1 team in the world, on their home turf, and we are being decimated in key positions by injuries. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was in positions we had depth. But it is the ones we don’t. Third Lions test we showed we could still win despi...

Re: Australia to win the Rugby Championship
I’d say one difference between us and the Lions was that Gibson-Parks and Russel, were quieter when on the back foot, but still very good, whereas our halves looked brilliant when on the front foot and shit when on the back foot.

Re: Australia to win the Rugby Championship
One thing to temper Australia’s performance is the status of Lynagh. If he’s out, it’s Donaldson at 10 and JOC or Edmed off the bench. Yeah. We are very thin on international level 10’s. Are we sure we can’t find a grandmother of Finn Russels that visited Australia at some point? To be honest, I do...

Re: Wallabies 2025: Revenge of the Schmidt
You have to say, Schmidt has done an incredible job. To go from being unable to get out of the group stages of the World Cup, when the highest ranked team we played was 9th in the world, to almost beating, and then beating the Lions. He will be sorely missed when he leaves.

Re: Australia to win the Rugby Championship
Saffas will easily be too good for Oz, even though we have improved massively under Schmidt. With their “quota” players, ie. selecting from 100% of the population, instead of just the 9% whites, they have become almost unbeatable.

Re: Lions Lions Lions
Good series win, but fantastic to see big Faz's selections blow up and the nepo baby have a nightmare. The 6-2 bench is just gambling, and I cannot understand how the pay-off is worth the risk. An injury to either wing, saw 3 players shuffling, and the Lions' backline didn't look nearly as dangerou...

Tate, Pollard and Valetini starting next week will make a big difference. Wish LSL were in the squad. Much better than both the current locks. They were shit. Frost was good. Williams not so much. I don’t understand the Gordon thing at halfback. You’re fūcked outside of him because he is so pondero...

Wales seem to have a pretty good record against Eddie Jones coached sides in the past few years. BTW: I can’t get Stan working, so can’t watch the mini-match (or the second half of the AB France match), but the Welsh can be assured that all Ozzies were supporting Wales.

Re: GAME OF THE WEEK: Australia vs Fiji
Kicking has to be a part of it but only as a respite or if a very good opportunity arises. The rest of the rugby world sees it as a weapon, but Australia does it as a last resort. And screw kicking goals - let’s go for the try. We have the collective mentality of under 14 years. Kicking for Suaalii...

Re: GAME OF THE WEEK: Australia vs Fiji
The ABs have traditionally been one of the biggest kickers of the ball. The Boks kick the ball lots. I’m not sure wtf some Australians are talking about. IMO, Oz teams don’t kick enough, and when we do, we generally do it poorly. It’s seemingly a cultural issue. Australia have improved in this area...

Re: GAME OF THE WEEK: Australia vs Fiji
I would have White/Lynagh with Tate/Donno on the bench. Hope Skelton and Valetini are back. Start Bell and only one of McReight and Tiz make the 23. McReight for sure. Hooper gets his bench spot. Those halves pairings don’t make much sense. Donno works outside of White because he is quite a talente...

Really, just change the name to the BI & A Lions already. I think they have had a minimum of 3 antipodeans in their backline for every game they’ve played. It’s not a criticism. The Australian team could just as easily be called the Wallabies and Pacific Islanders. How so? Daugunu for sure but most...

Some 'relevant' Wallaby notes from yesterday's game: - Nic White isn't the guy. He's actually played well in SR but it's time to move on to the new generation, with Lonergan, Wilson and Kalani offering more. - Donno isn't a fullback's arsehole and cannot manage a game at flyhalf. He doesn't have th...
