Re: Wallabies 2025: Revenge of the Schmidt

The other thing with Lynagh is that, even as he gets older and more experienced, he is not going to get any bigger. Teams are not going to stop attacking his channel. It was night and day between him and JOC when he came on. I’m not sure why people are discussing whether Marky M can make it back to ...

Changes I'd like to see for the Wobs this week: 1. Angus Bell, who appears to have rediscovered his mojo, to start at LHP with Aidan Ross to the bench 2. BPA to start at hooker and shore up the scrum with Pollard to the bench 8. Bobby V to replace Big H (that's what we call him now, right?) 11. Too...

After that whooping, Olo might actually be onto something. Although it might be the Saffas in 4th not 2nd. They might jag a win against Australia next week, then get a couple more wallopings from the Kiwis and then at least one loss to the Jaguars. At this stage they should be aiming to at least mak...

I feel a bit sorry for Schmidt. We’re going to play the number 1 team in the world, on their home turf, and we are being decimated in key positions by injuries. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was in positions we had depth. But it is the ones we don’t. Third Lions test we showed we could still win despi...

I’d say one difference between us and the Lions was that Gibson-Parks and Russel, were quieter when on the back foot, but still very good, whereas our halves looked brilliant when on the front foot and shit when on the back foot.

One thing to temper Australia’s performance is the status of Lynagh. If he’s out, it’s Donaldson at 10 and JOC or Edmed off the bench. Yeah. We are very thin on international level 10’s. You have to say, Schmidt has done an incredible job. To go from being unable to get out of the group stages of the World Cup, when the highest ranked team we played was 9th in the world, to almost beating, and then beating the Lions. He will be sorely missed when he leaves.

Saffas will easily be too good for Oz, even though we have improved massively under Schmidt. With their “quota” players, ie. selecting from 100% of the population, instead of just the 9% whites, they have become almost unbeatable.

Good series win, but fantastic to see big Faz's selections blow up and the nepo baby have a nightmare. The 6-2 bench is just gambling, and I cannot understand how the pay-off is worth the risk. Wales seem to have a pretty good record against Eddie Jones coached sides in the past few years. BTW: I can’t get Stan working, so can’t watch the mini-match (or the second half of the AB France match), but the Welsh can be assured that all Ozzies were supporting Wales.

Kicking has to be a part of it but only as a respite or if a very good opportunity arises. The rest of the rugby world sees it as a weapon, but Australia does it as a last resort. And screw kicking goals - let’s go for the try. We have the collective mentality of under 14 years. Kicking for Suaalii...

The ABs have traditionally been one of the biggest kickers of the ball. The Boks kick the ball lots. I’m not sure wtf some Australians are talking about. IMO, Oz teams don’t kick enough, and when we do, we generally do it poorly. It’s seemingly a cultural issue. Australia have improved in this area...

I would have White/Lynagh with Tate/Donno on the bench. Hope Skelton and Valetini are back. Start Bell and only one of McReight and Tiz make the 23. McReight for sure. Hooper gets his bench spot.
