Re: Irish navy missed drug bust because of St Patrick’s Day

Ireland has one active ship? Very odd for an island nation. We have 5 or 6. Can't remember exactly between new acquisitions and moth balling/decommissioning old ones. Staffing levels are so dismal that there aren't enough to crew and service them to all be functional. It's an absolute shambles.

Re: Irish navy missed drug bust because of St Patrick’s Day

The defence forces are hugely under-invested in. The Navy is the worst. They have such a recruitment and retention problem that they can't keep all vessels operational. It's a shambles. The RAF and Royal Navy do the Russia monitoring activities. All the Air Corps and Navy need to do is fisheries pat...

Re: DUNE 2:OFFICIAL THREAD

Alia doesn't get born. The whole timeline from escaping into the desert to reappearing and nuking the Shield Wall is fairly condensed.

Probably just a bit too much to keep track of for a cinema adaption. Same reasoning behind the slightly rushed climax.

Ehh, no major clangers from Larmour. Have seen this posited a few times now. He had one egregious drop under SFA pressure. Call me picky, but... ...no thanks. Ran sidewards at the start putting us under pressure (nearly got counterrucked off the ball). His kicking is also not good enough for a 15. ...

Add in Furlong just about not scoring (fair, IMO, givent eh on-field decision), and Nash taking a step too many and not scoring when it looked easier. Granted, Scotland basically scored an own-goal to balance one of those, but we we unusually profligate with the chances we did have, for whatever rea...

How did people feel Larmour did? I thought he played as expected. He's 5th(?) choice in the back three, and is not a FB. Even Leinster only select him there as a break glass option in lower profile games. He was drafted in to start at FB in a 6N decider, having not been in the frame for a serious I...

Re: War in Ukraine...

Seems like a win-win campaign. Causes pain, or at least more difficult decision making, for the military as majot consumers of fuel in a war, but also impacts the population. The domestic front is where Russia loses this war in the medium term. A military defeat would take years of misery in Ukraine...

One thing that brought me great joy was that every time VDM got the ball, he was absolutely emptied. Got the impression many fans have wanted him to retire for some time? He's never been a physically dominant 6, like Kaino etc. Superb lineout forward and leader, but went through a period where he was making very few tackles per game and wasn't a primary carrier. I woulda gone with Helen Lovejoy. They may be useless in terms of ever expecting them to serve in government or execute any responsibility, but I don't mind them for the most part. The bleeding heart vote deserves its own party, not to be relying on the Shinners or canonising MLMcD cuz she's a woman.

I don't think it's favouritism, Farrell wants Baird's pace.
