Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
The quality of Exeter's fast ruck ball can make any defense look fallible especially if the 1/2 backs are marshaling play as effectively as Exeter's. It's gong to be some heavyweight contest next week, and discipline/set-piece will be critical.

Re: Munster v Toulouse
Munster were a totally different team to last week. They played with intensity and conviction and proved that they can still play ball with the big boys. It was refreshing to see us put the box kicking to one side and throw the ball around, which we were very good at. They really REALLY need to lea...

RWC winning coach Rassie Erasmus didn't win a trophy at Munster, but the same gameplay won SA a World Cup. There were some of the same criticisms of imbalanced attack, too much box-kicking etc. and that they were well off the pace when stuffed by Saracens etc.. I also recall complaints being leveled...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
A coaching ticket of Graham Henry and Wayne Smith wouldn't have changed the result today. There is no such thing as a winning game plan when you are being completely denied ball, and the opposition can competently use theirs. Sometimes, other teams are simply better.

Open the economy up... McGrath had a great game, good decisions and looked solid. He's a much better player than some on the bored care to admit. Munster didn't seem to have any plan A today, let alone plan B. The whole 'pashun' thing seemed to be lacking too. Leinster not very efficient with the possession, but the forwards were very dominant  Not sure you can have any plan when you are so dominated in possession. Any plan requires...

Larmour has had a woeful game There's been no room for any of the wings, tbf, problem is when Larmour has no room he goes to the stutter step, and it just doesn't work. Leinster pretty comfortable everywhere except on the scoreboard. Final pass and all that with one lad in particular knowing what he must work on n the off season.
Munster will need more, a lot more to win this game. At a minimum, they''ll need some ball.

Would much prefer to see us have a depth chart so that players can compete for their spot and more importantly that the style of play isn't compromised whenever there is an injury. Moving Henshaw out 1 when he has been excellent at 12, and moving Beirne who has been the arguably the tournament's bes...

The bang of MOC off the team at the moment is overwhelming. It’s like they are getting the creative play coached out of them. Like Catt, another coach who attempted to have players play in a less structured way? It resulted in some stilted, hesitant attack with players less attuned and comfortable ...

This Irish team lacks the balance and cutting edge to hurt the likes of England. England will not be starved of possession, and they can defend blunt.

Re: 6N Rd.4 - Scotland v Ireland, Sun Mar 14th KO @ 3pm
Lineout outstanding (Kelleher can't even throw straight to 2 under pressure), breakdown really strong and accurate again. Scum decent. We have the cutting edge of a sausage. With all that possession, we can create through the boot and that's it. We need to go completely back to structure as our atta...

Re: 6N Rd.4 - Scotland v Ireland, Sun Mar 14th KO @ 3pm
All our play going through Sexton, and if he isn't completely on it, our attack looks awful as there are no other playmakers outside him. We have had an excellent platform for most the first half off which we could play and it says a lot that the up and under outside the Scottish 22 remains our best...

Re: 6N Rd.4 - Scotland v Ireland, Sun Mar 14th KO @ 3pm
From 10 through 13, we continue to show that we need to play to a script as our passing, running lines, and option taking are just hesitant, lack conviction and are just too limited at this level.

Quality of breakdown work from both teams producing really fast ruck ball. Helps that teams are being quite disciplined in not competing that much on the ground, but ref also playing his role.

Quality of attacking play from both sides has been really impressive. Both teams are being stressed right across the park. Exceptional, high quality stuff.
Suppose that French exits are a "work-on" in terms of options and execution.

Being physically resilient, and resistant to injury, is something that is heavily weighted in US pro sports when drafting players, and seems to be underweighted in rugby. It's very concerning that Byrne can breaks down on a goal kick, or in a warm-up. just cannot depend on him.

Find Premiership or Top 14 clubs that have a real need for players in their position and arrange a 12-24 month loan deal for Sheehan, Dunne. There is a line forming in the back row as well. These guys need to play to develop and reach their potential.
