Re: All Blacks Head Coach post-2019

Bidwill's wrong on all counts. Perhaps the player representation isn't reflected by the coaching numbers, but it's an ongoing process. Umaga & Lam were both given high profile coaching jobs, they just didn't perform at a level that would justify an AB position. The likes of Tiatia & Ieremia will pr...

Re: The RWC Is Overrated

Tbf, it must be frustrating having to fluke your way to these wins. When are you going to go route 1 to win one? Frustrating for who? Maybe some Kiwis; definitely not me. The funny thing is, Rassie straight up tells everyone everything. He said before the final the Bok frontrow hadn't played ...

Re: The RWC Is Overrated

NZ would have won the 07 and 19 world cups at a canter with South Africa's cake draws they received. In both 07 and 2019 South Africa got lucky that England didn't play well in the final. Also, S.A. have done much more impressive things than beating Fiji Argentina and England in 07. Their rugby cha...

Re: The Makazole Mapimpi Try.

Taking nothing away from what was a fantastic try, it gives me the absolute shits when players dont put 100% effort into getting behind the posts for the easy conversion. Mapimpi jogged it in and dotted down around the 15yard line. He could easily have gone under the dot if he had put some gas on. ...

Re: All time RWC success ladder

So, SA and NZ have 3 wins, Aus 2, England 1, France next as the only NH side to make a final. (And am inclined to put SA in first place as the didn’t play in 87 and 91 , and those cups were amateur which I’m merely using to break the tied first place) How would the next places fill out ? Wales got ...

Pack weights at first scrum in the final

England 920kg
SA 900kg

(These are from memory and might be out by a kilo or three)

Re: The Makazole Mapimpi Try.

Kolbe's was an excellent try. Fantastic finish, and as he'd so good, was almost expected as soon as he took the pass. Mapimpi's try had a few more moving parts, so to speak. The gather and pass from Am was sublime. A thing of beauty. Agreed, Kolbe might just end up being better than all of Habana, ...

I don’t mean the best song, just the most under-rated. My vote goes to Freebird https://youtu.be/QxIWDmmqZzY It starts off slowly but every minute is better than the previous minute. The last 2 minutes are unbelievable. If you’ve heard Lynyrd Skynyrd on the radio 99% it was the poor to average song...

Yeah it was an odd one. Obviously there is no clear dividing line between a pass, a deliberate tip on, and a fumble. However if you look at the intent of the law you can see there are circumstances under which they need to be treated differently The only sane definition of a forward pass is: A runn...

Re: All Blacks: Post mortem

This is still a very good ABs side, any other RWC and they probably would have won it. They decisively took care of the Boks, destroyed Ireland and Wales and would have been to good for the Wallabies and France. It just happens that they came up against the best England side I've ever seen, one tha...

Should have had a hat-trick, Reiko's fat fingers notwithstanding. I reckon that pass was intended to go straight to bender. I don’t think that was forward at all, yeah it came off Reiko but it never went in front of him and was caught by Bender who was behind him, if that was a normal pass it would...

A very good AB, but with some big caveats. When doing the simple stuff, running a good line and getting a pass away he was fantastic. Ditto making turnovers at rucks. Sadly never really got his offloading game in complete control. Always a couple of passes thrown out the back along the ground to no...

Re: All Blacks: Post mortem

Let me be the voice of reason. The All Blacks won consecutive World Cups. Normally when a country wins a World Cup, they have to build up a successful team over a period of time and get them to peak. The All Blacks won consecutive World Cups with two different teams and this is an amazing accomplis...

Just the best all round footballing winger/fullback we've had for as long as I can remember, not even Jeff Wilson, or I Dagg were his peer. He was fantastic.
Sad to me we hardly ever saw him at 12 recently.
To me he's a better 12 than 13 an ALB is a better 13 than 12, yet most of their recent games have been the other way round.
