Re: Catalan Referendum / Independence

The thing that blows my mind as much as the events in Catalonia, is the flag-waving mobs in Madrid cheering the riot police on their way and Roman saluting while singing at their rallys. Have they no self-awareness or is fascism really just under the surface? It's always been there, and disgusts mo...

Re: Catalan Referendum / Independence

Anti Spain? I genuinely don't see or hear it, and I live in a very Catalan environment . I get that being "the jilted spouse" isn't a nice feeling or a bunch of fun. I suspect I'd feel the way a lot of Spanish do if I was in their position. Very hard to feel that it isn't personal. But it isn't, as...

Re: Catalan Referendum / Independence

We'll never know what the vote might have been. Impossible to give this referendum enough credibility, due to the intimidation by Madrid using the police and the possibility for distortion of the result due to the ersatz way that most of the polling stations were run. The minute the Generalitat anno...

The polls are open and acked with people. Mossos (Catalana police) visited the polling station during the early hours but there were maybe 200 people at the doors in the way and they left. Re: Catalan Referendum / Independence

It's likely to end up an even worse clusterf*ck because, in the (highly likely) event of a "yes" win, Puigdemont has said he'll declare independence within two days. What then? It can't end well. Oppressing a people because of political expediency and power never works out, in the long run - work i...

@jezzer Let's go over this again. I said the turnout in all probability be very low due to "yes" supporters not voting. The rumour is that the CUP wants a unilateral declaration after the referendum. Neither PDCat nor ERC agrees. I think it's looking more possible that the referendum will be a 9-N repeat. Low turnout, high yes vote. The no side will stay away. Legitimacy of the result will be highly questioned outsid...
