Re: Deviated Septum and smell
I have a bad deviated septum in my nose and really can't smell for shit. I mean I can smell a little bit but my face pretty much has to be in something to smell it. I can barely even smell my own farts anymore unless they are extra rotten and that is depressing. Am thinking I should perhaps get thi...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Can't remember Noel Reid playing 13 for Leinster. It's prob happened but can't remember seeing it. Will be a test for his improved defence... We have 2 great defensive 13s in ROL and Ringrose, but no harm to see if Noel can do a job there. Ball in hand, it should suit him. ROL isn't a great defensi...

Re: Catalan Referendum / Independence
Massive demonstrations going on. The PP government, which itself has a questionable mandate to take such a hard line, given their small majority, is driving people into the pro independence side. In huge numbers. It's crazy. There needs to be a vote of no confidence in the PP and somebody elected w...

Re: Catalan Referendum / Independence
Seems a poor show that the Catalan government and Madrid can't come to some agreement for holding a referendum. if Whitehall and the Scots can manage it, anything ought to be possible... Whitehall wanted a referendum because they thought there would be such a conclusive 'no' vote it would put the m...

Re: Catalan Referendum / Independence
That's not the army, nor Guardia Civil. And I don't see any violence whatsoever. From what I read on this thread it's like people was eager to see riots in the streets. It's being all quite peaceful from both sides. Tense, but quiet enough. There is no chance of there being riots. None. So I presum...

Central Barcelona in gridlock with demonstrators. Puigdemont has just given a fairly defiant speech, accusing Madrid of illegal interference and actions without legal basis. which, let's be honest, he would do. Says, no matter what happens, referendum will go ahead. I have my doubts. Rajoy saying yo...

They're not. Central government can call a referendum. Regional governments of autonomous communities however are on much thinner legal ice if they call one.hermie wrote:Does nobody else think the fact that referendums are illegal in Spain is absolutely ludicrous?

If Catalonia wants to be independent, history shouldn't matter. They've got their culture, their language and little by little an invisible frontier has been built between them and the rest of Spain. At the end of the day what independentists catalans are looking for is more money. They just want a larger slice of the budget. If you give them more money separatism is dead. The rest is fake news.
