Re: NZ Politics Thread
I'm not sure if that's any better or worse than Labour bypassing electoral funding rules by having their MPs use parliamentary expenses to sublet offices at market rates from the Labour Party who have let them from patsy owners at heavily discounted rates and the party pockets the difference.

NZ has suspended entry for travellers from India, including NZ citizens and permanent residents naturally as these are the only people allowed to come anyway.

I guess we're just not very good at things here in NZ
For the record it would be ~1 vaccination per day per nurse
I reckon they can do more than 1 so they can probably give themselves a day off here or there

We really should be vaccinating everyone within 12 weeks or so looking at how quickly other countries have been able to do it. There must be a supply issue at play, it's the only reason for the tardiness. Why can't the Govt just be straight forward about it?

The bottoming out of term deposit returns and the similar effect in the bonds market are directly caused by the RBNZ's lending to the Govt and the new remits imposed by Labour which require the RBNZ to consider employment when setting the OCR. It's no wonder then when most investment returns are abs...

Again, ETNZ showed better numbers despite their smaller foils. Despite their smaller foils? They are faster (in part) because of their smaller foils Smaller foils mean less drag in the water. Drag in the water is the only thing slowing these boats down. What we saw in the second race was a real dea...

Nah. ETNZ is clearly a lot faster boat, they just have to be better in the starts so they're not slowed by the wind wash from the leading boat

I think the fastest I've seen is about 53 knots or just under 100 kph
The trailing boat just doesn't have enough time on each leg to catch up and pass unless the other boat screws up technically or tactically

Re: Americas Cup - OFFICIAL match thread
ETNZ's vmg downwind is a good 2 knots faster than Prada's.
The trouble is they're pretty even upwind and just can't get past if they get behind
I think what would improve these races is longer but fewer legs to really allow these boats to take advantage of their boat speed

Not all roughness - but the roughness certainly helps that side absorb moisture and I think it is a combination of both. I was never quick enough to get a ball to reverse but used to help load it up for the quicks. I don't think anyone one is arguing against the fact that moisture and other certain...
