Re: I f****** hate the recorder

My daughter did the Chanter and then started on the bagpipes. However being small, she really could not get to grips with the bagpipes (octopus wrestling and all that) and gave it up. Phew. Then the lad started drums ... we put him in the "west wing" to play. The recorder seems such gentle wind inst...

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

I had my U12 team do the guard of honour at the London Scottish v Bristol match on Saturday. Watched him during the game. He was, as usual, superb. He came and spoke to our lads and wished then well for the London Irish minis festival the next day. The boys could not stop talking about meeting him. ...

Coming down from Inverness to watch Highland in the Bowl finals so thought we would also include the Glasgow match tonight too.

Hope it's a win-win weekend.

Re: Birds of prey

Living in the north of Scotland, I see a lot of raptors (although with some clown posioning a large number of Red Kites and Buzzards near to where I live, not as many in the vacinity). Opsreys are back again now too. Have quite a few near misses in the car as I look out of the window when driving, t...

Re: The Whisky Thread

I got a pint bottle of Highland Park for £27 last night in Tesco. A good deal.

As for blends, Bailie Nicol Jarvie is pretty good. If in doubt, Famous Grouse is a good choice - Macallan-ish flavouring I believe (or used to believe when I did not smoke as many cigars and good taste some).

Tiree https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BjGodKyCQAAYQUo.png:large Spent a few summers there. Lodge Hotel on the right I think and the Elephant's End out of sight on the right. I hope Laidlaw's time at "The Cherry and Whites" is better than Paterson. Paterson struggled to make the first team on a regular basis.

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

Posted the second part of my dribblings on Youth Rugby in Scotland. http://grumpyrugbygit.blogspot.co.uk/ I have been coaching at mini level for 5 years and this will be my last as my lad goes to midi next year. We have played a couple of mixed Primary7 and S1 (U13) matches with the U13 variations....

Belhaven Bay ... superb shot sir. Realy ike how the path leads you into the bridge, and the bridge takes you over the water to the sand and onward to the isles. I'll tell Donnie he has been listed on Planet Rugby. It will not impress him. He is unaware of the Internet. He has mellowed ....... a little. Perth is a better idea than Aberdeen as once the A9 is dual-carriageway the Inverness time to Perth will be a standard 90 minutes rather than a hair-raising ...

Pre match entertainment? I thought that involved getting as much down your neck as possible and then trying to get a last one in which meant getting in just as the anthems started. Days have changed. Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

I coach at U12 level. It is so good see the players look up to the First IV, Pro and International players - children who believe all the see and believe adults. The Scotland team are their heroes. I did not even ask the boys yesterday what they thought of Saturday. Can you imagine how it is to be 1...

A good friend gave me a Bruichladdich Rocks for my 50th. I do drink a fair amount of malt but one large snifter of this knocked me back. Head was a reeling for a little. Must just be the new as it is not that strong.

On Mossy ........ Museum of Scotland had an exhibition last year and they had a Napier Uni technology piece on his kicking style - sensors over his body and computer analysis. They "proved" with all his kicks, from the waist up he never moved. Some sort of pivotal mechanism thingy.
