Re: Bok backline
Their ability to counter attack with sheer pace concerns me as an AB fan. We quite often produce sloppy play and poor defensive reads out wide at the moment, which they are well set up to exploit (especially Kolbe).

1987 RWC final. We didn't have a TV but rented one during the RWC. It was the first rugby game I ever watched on TV, despite already playing.

Re: How do we get away from games decided by how refs interpret the law?
You don't. Either rugby as a culture switches back to enjoying the sport and not obsessing about every tiny little ref decision, or it continues it's descent into a sports culture that is mostly about crying like little bitches.
It'll be the latter.
It'll be the latter.

Re: The digs at referees on here
You are 100pct entitled to discuss about how a game got managed by a referee. That’s part of the game - an important one, and it has nothing to do about moaning. This is just a stupid excuse used to cut off discussions. That time Italy applied the no ruck tactics - the one which sent England, Heske...

Re: The digs at referees on here
It is, but in many (not all) of the post game rants, it's actually deserved. It's not. Rugby law book is far too complicated and too open to interpretation to have clear cut and consistent decisions when exposed to the multiple camera angles and analysis of modern sport. Almost every phase of play ...

Just enjoy the rugby, I think most people on here don't. +1 Every single game is followed by a ref whinge. It's so tedious. That box kick by Faf was even more moronic than Aaron Smith's - at least the ABs were up by 4. France were almost within drop goal/penalty range when they got that back.

You're the epitome of a ref-blaming shit-cvnt. Right down to the disingenuous 'not saying it was the reason for the result' disclaimer. You're correct. The All blacks in a few pressers last week said there are a few Irish players who enjoy sledging the opposition during matches. Sexton is definitely one of them. As is O’Mahoney. Porter seemed to be whingeing all night (don’t know why - he was boring in and driving sideways all night). Of course, t...

Bangles 245/9. Craps 248/2. (41 overs) I don't get how/why the NRR keeps going down, even though they are winning by quite big margins. It's the average runs you score per over, minus the average runs you concede per over (if you get bowled out then your score is calculated against the full 50 over...

Purely for the sake of conversation. If Whitelock went on to win two more games where would that place him amongst the AB greats? He's already there mate. I know, I’m asking where though? Is #2 the ceiling? Yes. Even if we had won in 2019 and he picked up a 4th this year, he would still be #2.

There was no point throughout the match where I felt confident, except briefly when they showed that Irish replacement with braids about to come on, and I immediately thought "ain't no way we're losing a RWC QF to a team with a bloke that looks like fat-cornrows-era Axl Rose". I gotta agree with the decision to hoof it back to the Irish at the end there. How many actual phases did they run through there? I was stunned we didn’t give a penalty. Smith sin-binning probably won the game for NZ. It disrupted Fozzy's "roll the subs for the sake of rolling the subs" strategy and meant no Christie. 10 minutes with 14 is less of a disadvantage than that.

The All Blacks repeatedly kicking the ball at the end of the game when in Irish territory shows that (despite the win) we're f**king morons under Fozzy. This is how to lose your job as a college football coach:

Miami, ranked 17 and undefeated, only need to take a knee to win the game. Instead they run it, fumble and the opposition use the remaining 25 seconds to drive in a touchdown.

France and Ireland both have a reasonable chance to replicate the 2015 ABs and beat every other semi-finalist on the way to the title (first hurdle would need one of them to win their QF and the other to lose).
