Re: The Australian Politics Thread

Perhaps one of you ALP voters can tell me ... Leigh Sales announced on 730 on your ABC tonight, that KK had declined to be interviewed. As, apparently has Dan the Man. Despite AC's contrary rhetoric, no-one in their right mind would suggest that the ALP hasn't had a cushioned run on the ABC news an...

Re: Dominant scrum or dominant line out?

Teams don't even compete in a defensive lineout most the time. I reckon they might with a dominant lineout. The point is it can be mitigated. A dominant lineout 5 metres does not guarantee a try. A dominant scrum can guarantee a penalty try or pushover. Plus a yellow card. The Boks were competing i...

He is a great ball carrying loose forward. But so is Hooper and so is Samu. Oh, and so is McReight. So if we start three of them, what are we doing about the lineout and about the tight work protecting the ruck? Are we leaving that to the tight five and having 3 loose forwards looking for pilfers an...

Re: Wallabies 2021 OFFICIAL thread

Against a physical but less mobile Arg that is the wrong back row. We dont want to be blown off the ball. Plus this will weaken the lineout and the scrum, and we dont want to be playing to their strengths either. Id keep a consistent backrow with Valentini, Hooper and Leota. We can go the smaller, f...

Re: Dominant scrum or dominant line out?

Obviously, there are a few other factors at play, but just on a very basic level, there are more than twice as many lineouts than scrums on average. Between the two TRC games on the weekend, there were 60 lineouts total to 26 scrums. Anecdotally, I would also expect a higher proportion of tries com...

Re: Dominant scrum or dominant line out?

Im going scrum, because it means that teams with weak scrums are less likely to throw the ball around based on fear of dropping it and then giving away a penalty. That means teams will not have much penetration in their attack. Having said that a dominant lineout means that you can partially negate ...

Left or right loses meaning now. These Qanon types are probably somewhat socialist. They are also racist and generally arseholes.

South Africa played a very one dimensional game. They kicked for touch, looked to maul and then tried to win a penalty and do it again. It worked well in the first half.
