Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

If they both stay fit its going to boil down to Crowley vs Prendegast IMO, Crowley is ahead of the pack and Prendegast is the standout challenger. The really interesting thing will be how all the provincial pecking orders get reshuffled after the RWC and the retirements because Farell isn't afraid o...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

There were a few moments in the middle of the second half where the Saffers were looking properly rattled. They were matched for physicality most of the time but the technical ability and accuracy around the contact area was on another level. I agree that Ireland left points out there too, some smar...

Re: Ofishal Ire v Samoa, watch behind the sofa, thread

Baptism of fire for Stewart and he looked rattled when he was coming off. The reality is the majority of the fringe players sh*t the bed last night and the error count and set piece didn’t give us a platform until the old heads came on. The media are constantly hyping the conveyor belt and one of o...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

If there’s a doubt around Sheehan, I think you bring him but leave Kelleher at home. He’s that good that he’s worth the risk of carrying through the first few games. Really harsh on Kelleher who is a fine player, but Herring and Stewart are just more robust and give you the security to carry Sheeha...

The “always illegal” thing is going to have to get sorted as well.

From some of Murray Kinsella’s tweets today it appears the defence argued that Farrell was trying to protect himself from an otherwise unavoidable head injury

Re: How long will Faz get?

There were some unusually well-considered comments on this on the Left Wing this week. The initial decision makes a mockery of the whole "bunker" system a month out from the RWC. It also ignores the fact that Farrell has had questionable tackle technique for his entire career and has recently comple...

I don’t think Stockdale has been anywhere near as bad as some people are making out, he had a very long/awkward injury and has been steadily improving since. I don’t really see the slide in Earls’ form that people are talking about, still a really quality player. I’d probably feel safest with Earls ...
