Re: Argentina vs England 3rd place match thread

Very generous to allow that forward pass in the build up. And Argentina going in the side when underhill was competing for the ball.

Keeping it interesting for the 'neutrals'.

Lawes has been England's best and most consistent player over the past decade. Sad to see him end his test career. The evolution in his game from being just a big tackler to an excellent all-round forward with ball-carrying and breakdown jackalling has been remarkable. 4 Six Nations titles, a Grand...

Lawes leaving means a rethink of the entire back row if we're to be competitive at the top flight. His height and heft will be missed. Simply swapping him for Underhill, good player though he is, is not the answer. I can See Borthwick playing a mix of Stewart and Smith depending on the opposition. ...

Is winning without scoring tries less important? Losing, with or without tries, is shit. Well obviously winning without scoring tries is better that scoring tries and losing. Borthwick definitely needs to try and figure out how to build an attack from this group of players. Not losing is fine, but I don't foresee the 'stop the other guy from playing' style selling out HQ. Telling that in 6 matches, the only teams we outscored in terms of tries were Japan and Chile. 0-1 ...

We can eulogise the kick chase all we want, and it was pretty successful here, but long term wings need to provide some threat. Outside of the Chile game (and that was Arundell anyway) not a single try was scored by one of our wings in the RWC. Can't actually remember one coming close either. Borth...

Was that Ben Earl? I noticed it; low no arms tackle, but it was in conjunction with someone else who effected the tackle so was missed. Should have been a penalty. Both tacklers went in low, no arms. They are on the same level as Australia, Wales and England with 2 years of domestic professional rugby. I happen to think they’ll improve. The mistake from Fiji was playing into an area where they were only able to support with one man into that final breakdown, and he went off his feet in clearing George. Which left Lawes free to have a dabble. I suppose Raynal might still have called ruck, we've seen that happen. But it seems a bit ...
