Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
I think Hansen and Keenan add a lot of that energy you're referring to. We had a mallet of a backline out there today. Did the job. The last two weeks have shown how critically important Hansen is. When play slows down and we lose cohesion, he's been the man to step in as auxillary play-maker and p...

Re: The Official and ONLY Ireland v Scotland Match thread
So, there's this thing called hubris... If any country is in serious trouble it's Scotland - 95% loss record in their last 20 u20's games - you can't outrun those results forever. Nah, it's PR. It's all fair game. Scotland will just go out and buy some Saffas and Aussies or, worse still, some Engli...

Re: The Official and ONLY Ireland v Scotland Match thread
It feels fine. There’s the relief it’s over. The realisation that it doesn’t get any worse. The memory of past ones. The gratitude for better times. Lots of them. The warm embrace of the inevitability of a cyclical return. And the comfort knowing that nothing stings like blowing a historic Grand Sl...

Yep, he'll hopefully be better for that tournament, winning 10 with a lot of work-ons. A lot of work-ons but for comparisons sake he's clearly way ahead of the other options in the coach's reckoning and the guy who quit Munster and Ireland owing to his emergence (Healy) has been dropped by Scotland...

Crowley isn't there yet. His kicking remains an issue. From hand as well as goal kicking. Best option we have though by a country mile. Yep, he'll hopefully be better for that tournament, winning 10 with a lot of work-ons. A lot of work-ons but for comparisons sake he's clearly way ahead of the oth...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Well look, besides Connacht who's providing the exciting players? Crowley had a good first tournament as first choice 10 and Nash filled a gap. Ulster are in no man's land and I can't blame any prospect for avoiding moving there. Haley has never had a decent look, Balacoune was cut adrift when what...

We were so dominant. Score doesn't reflect the dominance. The Scots fans were fantastic though See comment above bandwaggoner. We were also ‘so dominant’ over Wales and Italy for the majority of each match. Show some f*cking respect for a cracking hard fought match. After you voted against us getti...

Yeah you're right, Ahern was only stand out because he was quick.
Anyway, we all know u20's isn't the metric to measure players on - it's only when they step up to pro level you start to really see it.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Hopes is u20 this year. He must start pumping iron and put on the kgs. What do people rate about him? I remember when POC was coming through, he was absolute class. Henderson, likewise, was freakishly good, as was James Ryan. I'm not sure I'd say Baird or Ahern were in the class of those 3 but EOC ...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Outside of Gleeson and Gavin I’m not sure who’s odds on to make it as a provincial starter level pro out of this batch. BOC would need to iron a LOT of kinks out of his game. Has upside though given size and athleticism. EOC is a really good player but not convinced he’ll progress for some reason (...

Job done Probably fortunate to have a BP and harsh on Scotland who made a game of it for 50 - 60 mins Didn’t think Scotland were great. They didn’t get a single point. I don’t want to hear anyone criticise the half backs when the pack is getting a schooling like this My reading of the first half was we'd good ball that the halfbacks wasted tbh. Munster rugby should be doing all they can, and maybe they are, to help him out, his issues started under their watch and getting rid of the cause, way too late, is only a small part in helping him. I don’t know if he’s too small but it will be a drawback he’ll have to overcome. I reckon he’s 5’10” on a good day… He’s well conditioned and solid, but mass*velocity = momentum and all that. Granny from Dublin. Not sure what the English connection is but he's as French as a baguette really. For some reason I thought he had a stronger connection. It's hard for a pack to be at the right pitch for every single game. This is why back-to-back Slams are so difficult. I don’t really know, but it is just odd that over the last 5 or 6 years, almost all the U20s 3/4s are pretty identikit 6’1/6’2 92-95kg not that fast but ‘good footballer’ types. It might be the best we are producing, but it suggests those guys either are the best available or the preferred options....

My thoughts on Frisch as a player is that he’s an excellent attacker but not as good on the other side of the ball. If we are in a comparative conversation I’ve yet to see the real elite defensive ability from Hume either so far. Frisch's main weakness is a lack of real pace, imo, but he's a good p...

That's bloody shīte for Munster, we'll have to leave him go now, losing 3 players like this is a kick in the stones. Frisch called up by France. Seriously? What are Munster going to do now? Won’t be allowed to sign an NIQ player as he’ll fill another slot.
