Playing understrength SR teams isn't exactly the toughest of tests tbf.
it is when your H/b's are Laidlaw and Biggar

I'd prefer marmion/McGrath and Jackson

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

henshaw is a very good 12. not world class but bloody good which is nothing to get too disappointed about. i think he could develop a world class partnership with Ringrose

i know its been said before but really hoping this is the makings of henderson. he's looked a top class 2nd row in the last few weeks. hopefully he can stay injury and Ulster keep him there

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

i'd bring in Lawes and Henderson into the 23 instead of Kruis and AWJ who both looked underpowered and off the pace against the ABs lawes is an excellent lineout forward i'd have him call it with Itoje next to him. Henderson would bring the impact Kruis/AWJ dont possess and the pack would immediatel...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

itoje should really be starting ahead of awj. his call over lawes or henderson is purely, to borrow a phrase "nostalgic". can understand the logic behind itoje coming off the bench rather than awj but imo itoje is too good to leave off the pitch, and pick one of the other two for impact very interes...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

unfortunately I don't see henshaw ever becoming a world class centre. he doesn't exceptional speed, step, power or hands he'll be a very good centre for many years to come but he doesn't have any outstanding attributes other than workrate. we could do a lot worse mind, but he wont be the next great ...

Re: OFFICIAL Chiefs vs British & Irish Lions MATCH THREAD

i can see it going quite similar to the return match in Dublin last November in terms of brutality Ireland dominated possession again that day but with our lineout disintegrating following the return of Whitelock and Retallick we lost our attacking maul that caused havoc in Chicago. with Itoje and K...

I would love to see POM captain the Lions in the test. The passion of the man would be overwhelming. He'd be in tears. I feel like I'm missing something here. Yes, pashun and all that, but POM didn't really do anything today. Didn't carry. Didn't tackle. Didn't win turnovers. Don't you want more? d...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

the argument for wanting to rest 23 on tuesday is ridiculous. there should be a number of players doubling up next week, thats what lions tours are about there's still plenty of lads playing Tuesday who'd have thought they could force their way into one of the tests. their chances have taken a big hit

it's a disgrace calling up a raft of new players to fill the midweek team. completely devalues the tour

there's a point when the concept stops becoming the "lions" and its just picking 50 players to go tour new zealand and market the shit out of it

regarding the front row, I've been thoroughly unconvinced at scrum-time they need to seriously think about picking an all Irish or all English unit. both sides have played off great attacking platforms for the last 18months but there's been very little of that on tour One to start and one off the be...

After rewatching, whether or not it was tactical, Webb's kicking of uncontestable ball back to the blues was probably the main catalyst to our downfall. When we kept the ball we made ground and should have worked them into making a lot of tackles before moving it to the corners. Either that or give ...
