Re: All Blacks 2024

They turned down very gettable shots at goal at 50 and 55 minutes which was the bigger concern for me. That and the lack of a drop goal option showed to me we'd forgotten the importance of building points in a tight game/final. Repeating mistakes from the past The ABs are very slow learners. Like I...

Re: All Blacks 2024

Excellent post. One of the best I've seen post final. Sadly, Codie Taylor has a knack for getting the yips at the worst possible time. Not that it should have come to that. In some ways, it was justice that Foster never overcame a limited but committed South Africa in the final. He never deserved t...

I do think the NZ public need to grow up. 2019 - Lot of moaning when England beat them Bullshit there was. Re: All Blacks 2024

I just chanced upon the England V South Africa semi match report. I was reminded that apart from the RG Hugeman try, it was the Pollard kick from just inside the half that won the Boks the game. Championship rugby. Meanwhile the ABs spurned much easier shots in both the 50th and 55th minute, while J...

Re: Fozzie: The axe falls.

I'm too slow to get your point, whatever it is, as to why tournament rugby isn't more successful outside tournaments. It seems you are. It's fairly well accepted that teams tighten their game plans for knockout rugby. Fewer razzle dazzle moves, and more conservative shots at goal when there is no g...

Re: Fozzie: The axe falls.

I wish the ABs would go for the easy 3, rather than hope for a difficult 3 at the end of the game. So would I. 50 and 55 minutes in are fairly late times in the game to spurn straightforward shots at goal when you are 6-12 down. Like I say. Pretty low hanging fruit for Razor to improve next year. So it’s not so much about their style but about other teams losing the nerve when it comes to continuing to play their own style in tournaments. This is pretty close to the point. Rugby World Cup rugby leans towards conservative styles. The knockout nature of it demands it. Teams generally go for t...

No, I'm not. I am not even sure where they were placed but I assumed they were not easy kicks, hence the lineout call. We were not getting difficult kicks and the two misses lends weight to that. Why doesn’t tournament rugby ensure success outside of tournaments? Greater risk, greater reward.
