Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

Rennie and NDL sign to 2014 I can see why Rennie chose to stay given he's just established as 1st choice, but NDL would have struggled to get an offer from Glasgow. NDL may get shown up as above his level at international, but, he has on occasion been standout for Edinburgh and rarely has a terribl...

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

Just catching up on the sevens. not the best, but Fleming has gas. Think he was carrying an injury when saw him before and wasn't impressed, but, he is quick. Watching his running style though, he needs to spend a bit of time with Margo Wells. While his technique works for him, it is not a good one ...

Poor form? For Glasgow perhaps but he came in off the back of a phenomenal performance for the As against Saxons. Yes, his form was poor for Glasgow - when the squad and team were getting picked the A match had not been played. And he had Scott playing at 12 in that game, not some useless fanny. Su...

Add in Beattie (who has real talent, though he needs to screw the nut) and anyone else half decent the SRU can persuade to sign up with us. Would also be tempted to take the likes of Farndale. Plus Seymour. And Bennett - this is the time to build a new back line. The issue with Bennet, Farndale and...

The issue is not that Vernon is shite - though he is very limited. The issue is that we've to blood young players and with the 6N effectively over and more important ranking games ahead, we need to blood those players now. Remember, they won't be the new Vernons and Kellocks. They are prospects for...

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

I agree with the grumpy one, while I don't like the idea of vernon as a starter as a bench option he is great and no issue being picked ahead of Harley. He showed in rwc off bench what can do and in A game against Saxons how good in attack with a tired/broken up play.

Is kellock really that much better in scrum at second row than Harley? He only seems to have just over a stone in weight on him and harley grafts more and is fitter so will push for longer. Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

Only one prop reserve killing us on numerous occasions, as always has at international level, could we risk a full front row replacement on bench with only Harley to cover 4,5,6? Or even a 5/2 split with Laidlaw covering SH (like that option less as a tired Laidlaw moving to 9 won't up tempo of game...

I'd rather have Evans of Grove than Slamont Grove is gash, Evans a winger only and jones is rapidly overshadowing him. My theory with lamont at 13 is dependant on a second playmaker at 12 ie Scott. Lamont can provide a threat outside him, taking defence eye out one a bit, he can provide the crash b...

Pains me to say it, but NDL probably has to be retained if Scott starts. A 10 is not hamstrung by his 12 - it's the other way around. A 10 dictates everything, others live and die on the field by the choices he makes. You watched the A game, weir was impressive.
