Re: Towny's Weight Loss Programme

I thought my question about pastry was a little hopeful. Ah well, eschewed the normal bagel for breakfast in favour of a two egg omelette. Let's see how we go. Need to drop 7 pounds (roughly 3-3.5 kg) to get down to my fighting weight of 185 lbs/83kg. The eating plan looks straightforward enough, bu...

Re: Piers Morgan "beaten-up" by Brett Lee in Melbourne

And you guys wondered why we called him a wanker? I don't wonder at all... He is a noted onanist. Apparently some kids were brought round to Hadlee's house by their coach. He chatted to them for an hour or so, and happened to prepare (or his then-wife prepared) a pot of tea and some biscuits. 3 wee...

Been there, done that (though I did keep quite a bit more than you will be!). 'Twas awesome. A good example of why I'm generally pretty risk averse when it comes to that kind of malarchy. Having noted that, I did dive into swimming pools while half cut on a recent holiday in Cuba, and it could have almost as easily happened there. As you say, very unlucky.

Re: Christchurch in Pictures - Now with spoilered NSFW ish b

IMHO Christchurch will emerge as a better city than it was. I grew up an hour away, earned a post-grad diploma at Canterbury University and never really connected with the place. It always struck me as a town that tried a little too hard to be English. As devastating as the quakes were, I feel Chris...

Christ Seneca, there's a difference between playing inside the line to a quick village bowler and facing Brett Lee. Chances are 48-year old Morgan could barely f**king see the thing.

Re: Michael Schumacher is in a critical condition

So basically he's in trouble because of the internal damage caused (i.e., his brain being squashed against the inside of his skull), and the helmet saved him from his external injuries, i.e. dashing his head open on the rocks.

Lets hope he pulls through.

Is there a reason why Aussies think Richard Hadlee is a wanker other than the fact he was too good for their batsmen for a decent period of time (and the dubious evidence of this article)? He had a mustache. He also acted like a fuckwit of a bloke. A prize wanker. He's disrespected as a man for ver...

Lee could have done himself more favours by bowling Morgan five times and then knocking him out with the sixth. Hilarity (and possibly death to the "batsman") ensues.

Having faced the bowling machine at that speed, most batsmen wouldn't even have time to lift the bat. the difference is with a bowler, you know when the ball is coming and you can watch it in the bowler's hand, so you tend to lift the bat as he comes in for the last stride and his arm comes over. w...

If there's any good to come of this tragedy, I think it's that Christchurch will beat its "boring" rap from tourists. Trust me, I've known plenty of tourists who came to NZ pre quake and just didn't rate Christchurch. The rebuild will give the city a revitalised, energetic edge.

Too easy to blame the kicker boys, that's a weak excuse. Like so many awesome Ireland performances of the past, you got out to a great start and got tired as the clock wore down. Chins up, lads. You were mighty today. That probably sounds patronising coming from a Kiwi supporter, but it's true.

Justin Marshall was bang on a couple of weeks ago when he said you do a haka in England, and the crowd try to drown it out with Swing Low. You do it in Ireland, and the crowd observe respectful silence. That's exactly how it has panned out, once again.
