Re: The Official UCI Pro Cycling Thread

Italy have finished 2nd in 10 of 11 stages so far. Huge losses for Martin and Formolo. They’re both on the edge of the top 20, behind the likes of Moscon. Big changes in the GC, and Bernal is starting to look properly comfortable now. Such a good stage. Favourite bit was Dan Lloyd on commentary say...

Re: The Official UCI Pro Cycling Thread

The Giro is 3 weeks long and what matters for riders is to arrive in top form in the third week. There are some diesel engines in this peloton. That being said, Bernal seems to be the only rider with the engine to climb and the punch to finish and put some seconds into the other riders. He is in a ...

Bernal looks strong, and Ineos clearly seem to be the strongest team in the race. But there’s only a minute back to 10th place, so it looks like being an interesting 2nd week. Is Yates holding back to be strong later in the race? How far can Vlasov go? How will Remco do in the proper high, steep mo...

Re: The Official UCI Pro Cycling Thread

What happened Carthy today? He seems to have managed to lose 2 minutes on a flat stage. Commentators said a mechanical in the final kms. I'm sure the details will come out later; "mechanical" is always very vague, it can mean a flat, dropped chain, general bike damage, or a handlebar falling off (i...

Re: The Official UCI Pro Cycling Thread

The big tours in Italy and Spain seem much worse at picking final km's than the TdF in terms of road furniture and rider safety. Not every sprint stage should be on a long straight road but on a super long flat stage the entire peleton are going to arrive at the same time That was an ugly crash yest...

6 weeks. That seems ridiculously lenient...but then again, I think I'd have a better chance of guessing the lottery numbers as guessing what ban lengths in rugby. 12 weeks with a 50% discount for never being caught before. Once again, Max is screwed by not having a teammate to back him up. Say what you want about Bottas, but he's the ideal tailgunner for Lewis. 2v1 gives the Mercs a lot more options. The final backrow call is going to be interesting. It sounds like Simmonds is in, I reckon Beirne will go as lock/backrow and then you'd have to think Tipuric, Watson, Curry and Faletau are nailed on. That leaves one final spot to be given to either Navidi, Underhill or Stander. Maybe even Lawes in...

Rugby is odd. You have world rugby pumping millions into growing the game then you have the spivs shrinking the game by reducing the number of pro teams or at the very least limiting new ones. They are actively working against each other. "Spiv"? Wasn't Australia the first Rugby country that reduce...
