Re: Great GIFS Thread (Now with NSFW spoilers)
It's a form of bored terrorism to say a thread has NSWF spoilers when it clearly doesn't.

Re: RIP the internal combustion engine!
I'd still have a Tesla S, because it's a bodacious piece of kit. :) to be fair it does look stunning, much kudos for the styling  shame about the 7,000 odd laptop batteries that form the battery pack x( I'd wait until independent tests are conducted before committing, in fact I'd wait unti...

FA, that has the potential to come across as paranoia. I doubt the main objective of anyone in the world is to change your lifestyle.Fat Albert wrote:The truth is that fossil fuel fear is the excuse that eco-fundies have seized upon to force changes to our lifestyle.?

Re: Are Electric & Hybrid Cars Dead? - Joule Unlimited
If it's a work in progress then they might just be trying to protect their intellectual property. There are obviously interested investors as Joule have raised over US$100 million in investment. The advisory team they have certainly aren't morons and would unlikely want to be associated with a comp...

Re: Are Electric & Hybrid Cars Dead? - Joule Unlimited
Lastly we know fudge all about Joule Unlimited's process as far as I can see. All we have to rely on is their marketing bumf, which I treat with as much skepticism as the marketing bumf of an electric car company or a nuclear power company until their claims are examined. This is the correct answer...

Re: Do Electric City Cars Dream Of Compressed Air Sleep?
The only 'problem' I have with this technology is that according to the few academic research papers available online, it appears to be considerably less efficient as a storage medium than batteries, while batteries are becoming more efficient all the time as a consequence of pressure form the consu...

Steel is more flexible than aluminium so more comfortable as it absorbs bumps better (or at least, that's the idea). I think aluminium is less durable as well. On the other hand, aluminium is lighter and stiffer, which is better for out-and-out performance (and of course, carbon is lighter and stif...

Re: Do Electric City Cars Dream Of Compressed Air Sleep?
But seriously, I thought I killed this on the old bored. The energy efficiency is pants. Why use electricity to compress air when you can feed it directly into the battery? And what happens when you try to compress air? It heats up! So you also need a big refrigerator to counteract that. And lots o...

Really Groucho sorry to hear. Have to say youre the first Pinarello owner I know who doesnt like it. Oh I liked it! It was a lovely bike, but I just didn't like the cheap Sora gears and other cycle parts. Faced with upgrading the gears, forks and brakes, or buying a higher spec bike, I went for the...

That's a nice bike, but there are too many spokes in the wheels. I just had to buy a new Ultegra chain for my Giant Cross City 1, after it was submerged in salt water when a wave washed me off a coast path. :( I think I'll be upgrading the wheels at some point.
