Re: Fiji Portugal
Group of death produces another classic This has been the most entertaining and closest group in WC history. Never before have we had 5 teams with such close results. The only blow out result was, amusingly enough, Wales demolishing Australia. Yet Wales didn't get a BP for that. Because winning was...

Re: Fiji Portugal
The end to that game was very like how Italy defeated Wales in Cardiff last year. A small Corinthian part of my spirit was warmed by that result, even though we lost.

Winning by 18 - it shows the danger of switching off - it happened against Georgia too.

I love this game. One team is running it from everywhere and the other one is depending on the set piece dominance and hoping to win penalties. Trouble is Portugal as a team running it from everywhere.

I want Portugal to win, but I also want Australians to go out so Fiji can get four tries and still lose then that’s fine.

How are we feeling about Argentina? Looked a bit tasty and dangerous today. Generating some confidence and momentum ahead of next week? Their backline was much better today. It's a 50:50 call We'll be under the cosh for large parts of the game I'd imagine. Hopefully we can hang tough and throw enou...

Makes you wonder what tîm Gatland would have put out if Georgia had beaten Fiji at the end - a weaker one because no one could catch us, or a stronger one because of the greater threat?

No doubt if I’m wrong, I’ll be told, but aren’t the tier 1 teams in the groups decided far in the past, based on WR position at the time? The fact that since then, some teams have risen high, eg Ireland and France, while others have fallen, eg Wales and Oz, couldn’t have been predicted, and so if we...

My main take from that is that the throw was not straight = scrum to Ireland, and victory to Ireland anyway, so forget everything else.

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
It used to be said, perhaps when we were cockier than we should have been in the 70s, that other teams never beat Wales, they just score more points than them. Well, it definitely seems as the reverse now applies: We only beat Fiji through luck and a bent ref. We should have beaten Portugal by much ...
