Mr. Very Popular wrote: Sat Nov 06, 2021 3:20 pm Ah here, taking off VDF for PoM, why bother
Because we need VDF next week.

Should get Carbery and the frontrow subs on soon too.

(obviously the error is having POM ahead of others there on the bench)

In fairness, Japan haven't held on to the ball for more than 30 seconds, we haven't had much defending to do.

Re: Ireland v Japan - Nov 6th, KO @ 1pm

Well, at least we've got cheerful Tommy on Channel 4. The starting team is fine, but that bench is depressing. Neither POM nor Murray are impact subs - such a wasted opportunity. Would also loved to have seen Balacoune and Mack at some point today. Don’t agree about the starting team - not sure how...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Is the 4 the biggest number of "project" players we've fielded in a starting XV? Given that none of them are particularly spectacular that should be pretty worrying. I’m nearly sure we used Stander, Aki + 2 more at some stage, possibly one of Lowe’s caps. Cian Healy is a legend, but the time of Por...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

So against Japan, an athletic and fast playing team, we're selecting a slow backline.... Obviously none are bad players, but surely this is the game to play Balacoune (ahead of any of the 3 wingers) and Frawley (ahead of Aki, not that I'm saying Ringrose is in amazing form). Keenan is solid as grani...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Poor match, poor refereeing.
How the try in the first half was accepted is anybody's guess. What's the point of a TMO if they can't make those calls?

Feel a little sorry for Joey - 10 is not a position where you can quietly play yourself into form. But he's playing very poorly right now.
