Re: The Training Thread

Don't squat 3 times a week. If you're pushing your strength a lot then do low rep, high weight DLs in one session and squats in another. Space the sessions as far apart as possible. Squatting 3 times a week is seriously tiring and your body will not get enough recovery. It's also not going to get yo...

Oh FFS. The revisionism has started regarding Murray's performance. I don't get how people are making excuses to keep licking him. He's seriously hamstringing the team and there's an alternative who's better than him there. Beggars belief. Hopefully Murray can rise above the mediocrity. That's all w...

Has it now become accepted fact that Heaslip isn't playing well? I thought he was one of our best forwards at the weekend. He, POC and Ferris were excellent. It's become Munster WUM fact. If we were to drop one of the backrow I agree that it would be SOB making way. The thing I have an issue with is that no matter who we pick at 7 instead of him they won't be any better than SOB. SOB's been starting at 7 for Leinster in big games for ages and for Ireland for a good while. POM's had a...

I appear to have done some minor damage to the cartilage in the lateral meniscus in my right knee. It swelled up a fair bit overnight.

Current treatment is "Ice it and see how it goes". Pretty certain that I'll be out this weekend anyway.

No. A hail-Mary offload which Buton headered straight into Reddan's hands is what made that try.

If the SH takes an age to give the ball to the carriers the defence can set and crowd the area with tacklers, slowing down the ball and stopping them on or before the gainline; even if the carrier runs on to it at pace. Now you're making stuff up. I never said they had to check for passes. I said he gives it to them statically. i.e the ball is slowed down so much that they have to reset by carrying into contact from a standing start as opposed to running on to it further from the ruck when Reddan passes the ball q...

Finally won a league game today. :proud: (We've been pretty shithouse this year). Someone fell out of a ruck and landed on the side of my knee. Was sore enough at the time but it went away, ran it off. Stiffened up later on as the night wore on though and I'm hoping it's not too bad.

Beat Bective 20-6 today. First league win of the season, but f**king delighted. We'll still finish bottom of the pile and have to go into a promotion/relegation play-off barring a hugely unlikely win against Belvo next Sunday, but it was good to knock someone off.
