Re: World Rugby Player of the Year

I’m already barred up thinking about Jordie Barrett at 12 and Rieko Ioane at 13 in 2020. Please do, nothing ruins an AB side like the back 3 drafted into the 12/13 channel  Er, you're missing the point. Rieko is a centre and a Jordie is a 2nd 5/8. Always have been. They've been transplante...

Is Fifa's equivalent award similarly derided or is it a respected decision? If so World Rugby should follow their system.

Better goal kicker, though. Which is saying something seeing as Beaudy kicked at 82% this past 12 months.

I know the difference hence making the distinction. An ODT staff member on Twitter informed a critic of David’s work that he now resides in Southland. Which staff member? Couldn't be bothered trawling through Twitter's sub-tweets to find the name but the ODT this morning clarified his residency... ...

On Frieko Ioane; he’s a centre and always has been at high school and NPC. The inside word from Hansen around the middle of last year was he was going to take Ioane as his bolter on the 2016 End of Year Tour as he saw him as his centre for the 2019 RWC. Well injuries on the wing and a backlog on mid...

Some Irish fishing journo who now lives in Southland can't bear hearing Maori language (te reo) spoken on New Zealand airwaves... Sigh . . . Like you, I too was extremely worried that our mutilcultural, cosmopolitan community down south was at risk with the injection of such an outdated interloper....

This is great for Richie Mo'unga's development. He was robbed of mentors with Dan Carter, Colin Slade and Tom Taylor all pissing off in one off-season. He'll learn tonnes about game management and how to ignite his backline from ROG. It'll also pay dividends on his goal kicking. Richie has been fair...

Here’s what’s interesting: it seems Ian Foster is universally disliked and distrusted by the rugby community. And it seems certain he’ll get the top job. So that’s a helluva environment for him to step into what is widely considered the most pressurised job in New Zealand. The general public and mos...

Hopefully they've included the awkward scene of Gatland sending Neil Jenkins down the $2 Shop to buy a red clown's nose. Then Gatland trying it on in his hotel room before the second test. Then keeping it in his trouser pocket for the entire week, ready for its big reveal after the triumphant draw.

The irony in the Swarm’s current argument, is that two current All Blacks who did come to NZ on a school scholarship (Naholo and Fifita) were never actually selected for the NZ Secondary Schools team, the only facet of schoolboy rugby that NZR actually play a role in.

I have no issue with that being called a penalty try as it's consistent with other PT rulings. Such as when the last defender races out of the line to intercept/knock down the final pass to the attacker on the overlap. The officials give that a PT under the assumption the attacker will catch the pas...
