The limit is still a zig-zag line, never a circle as the lines making the new corners are never tangential to the circumference. So it does not approximate pi.

Re: Why is Pi an Infinite Series?

One of my random crazy ideas. If we do find there's intelligent life beyond Earth, is there one place where they have the number system setup such that pi=1. In such a system, the circumference would be equal to the diameter. The area would be equal to radius squared. If pi = 1, what happens to all...

Regards to 3b1b, the use of the animations to illustrate concepts is going to render maths text books stone dead. You can watch his 12 introduction to calculus videos, and in 2 hours you should be a master of the concept. Try getting all that from a text book and it might take days. Even a tutor cou...

From the same place as the train question. You have a bike leaned vertically against a wall. The pedals are in the 12 and 6 oclock position. Tie a string to the lower pedal and then stand behind the bike and pull on the string. Will the bike go forward, backwards or not move? Is µ<∞ for the interfa...

You'd have thought that the ratio between the circumference and the diameter is measureable and should be a finite number. Why? Because you would have thought so. Both are measurable . I've another conundrum in the queue. It's "E". So? Why should two measurable quantities have a rational relationsh...
