JGP has been very good. His passing beyond a few metres is quite poor, but he controls the tempo well. Game was begging for the likes of a Casey.

Re: Ireland v Japan - Nov 6th, KO @ 1pm

Well, at least we've got cheerful Tommy on Channel 4. The starting team is fine, but that bench is depressing. Neither POM nor Murray are impact subs - such a wasted opportunity. Would also loved to have seen Balacoune and Mack at some point today. Don’t agree about the starting team - not sure how...

Big game for Farrell. He needs a high scoring and convincing win. He has no excuses as you'll never see a more familiar side in international rugby.

I am soooo sooooo UNDERWHELMED How Coombes, Balacoune and Casey aren't in for POM, Murray and Earls/Conway/Lowe I'll never agree with. Absolute state of the team. Just fùck off Farrell Very disappointing team. POM on the bench. Farrell's hugely under pressure and doesn't seem to really grasp what international rugby is.

He inherited a team at its lowest point in a long long time and has somehow managed to take further backwards steps.

Leinster aren't at the level they were a few years ago and Ireland are becoming more reliant on them. Farrell's Ireland is basically just Leinster minus their great coaching group.

Farrell is a guy under pressure so he's doing the easy thing by selecting the guys from the most successful si side in the country. The worry is that Leinster aren't at the level they were a few seasons ago.

The absolute obsession and hysteria surrounding POM is so strange. There's more talk about the potential of him being involved that the rest of the other players combined. Nuclear isn't really realistic in Ireland. We don't have the knowledge-base and skillset on the island to make it a reality. We don't have the size to demand a suitable scale. It also is a medium-term solution that kicks the can down the road. Before you even think of the waste, the next generation...

Kleyn and Haley will be asking themselves what more than they can do if they miss out. On rugby and form grounds, both would have to be included.

Kleyn is unlikely to get a shot again as Farrell wants to avoid more xenophobic outrage from the Leinster media.
