Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
With the Gabba, an unbeaten fortress since 1988, now a pile of rubble does that leave Eden Park, unconquered (rugby) since 1994, the last great sporting fortress in the World?

Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
Huge credit to coach Shastri. a fine player in his day who had great success in Australia. Was under pressure after the CWC 2019 and losing to #1 NZ 2-0 away from home. What he has done to get his side fighting and grafting is remarkable.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
Epic by India. They were on the canvas after the first test. Kohli out and the the bench warmers step up. Not a great result for NZ. Thanks very much Australia. It’s pretty good for New Zealand. Aus have to pretty much win all 3 tests in South Africa or they drop to 3rd and out of the ICC test cham...

Not sure why holding it in the UK would be any better than SA. Both countries on fire with Covid. Better to bring the series down under ... maybe NZ and Aus could co host? Rugby fans down under would support the games

Re: Best Rock Guitarist
EVH is as you say, supremely talented and hugely infuential from the 80s onwards. He's also probably the hands down winner in talent vs poor song discography, Van Halen as a collective song producing team are incredibly weak. Maybe Vai edges him as his stuff is completly unlistenable. EVH was a bri...

In my opinion ... Hendrix and Van Halen easily the most original and influential. Each caused seismic shifts in what a guitar could actually do amd sound like. The innovators. Hendrix was an Alien and EVH just the most naturally talented muso going. Pure joy. Always had a smile on his face whilst ri...

Re: Kane Williamson is a selfish prick
FWIW Kane Williamson has extended his #1 ranking points to 919. This places him as the highest ranked NZ test cricketer ever .. above Richard Hadlee who got as high as 909 bowling ranking points. Of course as an all rounder you could add his batting points as well. Williamson now 20 points off makin...

Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
Smith’s footwork hid the batsman guard marks so it could be unsporting conduct contrary to the “Spirit of Cricket” ie he was being an Aussie cnut. A one match ban Shirley? No. Tim Paine has clearly explained this. He wasn't rubbing out Pant's guard, he was making out his own. Steve Smith marks out ...

Re: The greatest ever rock Albums 2-50
Fair comment above the black musicians/bands. But rock in the 60s 70s and 80s was vastly a white mans world.
The 2 that do stand out for me would be Sly and Family Stone and the Jimi Hendrix Experience (although there is a fair case to give them to the English as that is where they made their name)

Re: The greatest ever rock Albums 2-50
Why have the English had such utter dominance when it’s come to rock bands? Plenty of countries have produced great acts, but if you had to list the greatest 20 rock bands, I would be shocked if the English didn’t have 15+ in the list. I don’t even know if the US would have one to crack it? Of cour...

Williamson got a 74 point ranking lift after his 251 vs the West Indies. A similar rankings point lift after his 238 could see him as high as 960 + at the conclusion of this Test Match. Bradman holds the record at 964 followed by Steve Smith at 947 .... just saying

Congrats to Tim Southee on his 300th wicket in his 76th Test. 5 tests quicker than Jimmy Anderson who many on this board consider to be the greatest quick ever. 3rd kiwi to get there after Dan Vettori and Sir Richard (who needed just 61 tests)

Solid session for the Crappers. 290 ahead with 10 wickets still available. I reckon they bat for another 20 overs after Lunch and push ahead to 375 ahead. Then out pakis in in for a few before Tea and ensure 2 cracks with the new ball. Leave the Pakis needing about 3.5 an over to win (all assuming r...

Great mop up this morning from Southee. Another 5 wicket bag takes him to 294 scalps in his 75 th test At 3.95 wickets per test (with another bowling innings to go in this test) , CPIs per test of 1.69 and a index ratio of 0.004 this places Southee a bit ahead of James Anderson - who many on the boa...

Thank god the ABs got the selection right last week and did the business. Tonight’s experiment, whilst valuable from a fact finding perspective, was a bust.
