Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
when is the squad being named? Was just about to ask this. There are very few spots up for debate. The following are nailed on, 100% 15. Kearney 14. 13. BOD 12. D'Arcy 11. Keet 10. Sexton 9. Murray 8. Heaslip 7. SOB 6. POM 5. 4. Ryan 3. Ross if fit 2. Best 1. Healy Trimble is probably 95% sure to s...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
I think people are ignoring that SOB is turning into quite a decent 7 and is the current incumbent. true but he's also our best 6. As epaddy's says SOB's apprenticeship at 7 might be coming to an end and it would be retrograde step to move him back to 6 on a tour which could serve as his 'finishing...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
bottom line is fez is injured; so we need someone to step in. our weakest area in the backrow is 7. So the question is do we pick our next best backrow or our next best 7? and who is that. In terms of all round play POM is a better player; he can carry, he can compete at the breakdown and he tackles...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
from what i've seen POM has been really good. i think he's better at 8 than at 7 though. Since heaslip, regardless of form, is nailed down as the 8, we'll never see if POM is good enough to play at 8. I know this is impossible since kidney is coach; but if SOB was moved to 8 and heaslip on the benc...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Away from all the Kidney bashing. Scotland have given him a headache now, they should fly up the ranking with that win. Holy crap, didn't expect that. Was it raining? horrible conditions. windy and wet. 9-6 to scotland; last minute penalty Australia seem to really struggle in the wet. Thats 6 point...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
i think many of you are being harsh on POM. Despite playing for munster; he's been one of their best players. He also did quite well during the 6N. And don't forget, it's a 3 games; so we might see plenty of rotation

i got the same impression. zebo is shite defensively. did you see him tackle earls for the van zyl try?kerry_exile wrote:I've only just seen the highlights from the Baa-baas game now...2 things stand out: 1. Defence was appalling, and 2. Gilroy is being shafted, he is better than Zebo right now.

So the test XV for NZ: 1. Healy 2. Best 3. Ross 4. Ryan 5. Tuohy 6. Ferris 7. SOB 8. Heaslip 9. Murray 10. Sexton 11. Earls 12. D'Arcy :( 13. BOD 14. TBD 15. Kearney if there are no more injuries, that's probably the team. But personally, i'd like to see some new fellas coming in. also Fez is looki...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
PJ will still be 1st choice next season or thats the plan. The signing is apparently a bit more experienced than him, but is defo not Staunton and NOC is under contract at Connacht. All signs point to Steenson. has matt berquist officially signed for perpignan? He is NIQ is he not? Steenson I would...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Will be interesting to see how the likes of Conway, Macken, Madigan, Reid, Kearney jnr do without the big boys there to carry them or when the games is done and dusted with 20 to go and they come on. I'd regard both Madigan and Kearney Jr as well proven at ths stage. Agree on the others. the should...

I'm actually delighted TOL & iHumph have gone to LI. If they're shit it's no skin off our nose.
