Re: Gene Simmons - "Rock music was murdered by internet"

Well, half-right. The internet and video games created intolerance for anything that doesn't sound like an advertising jingle. The other half was the mania for turning every TV show star with half a voice into a pop-star. It seemed to start with Kylie. Once, people started with just their enthusiasm...

Re: Kiwi whining

Fatty Hansen came down with a classic dose of 'do what I say, not what I do' last weeks game, smugly and condenscendingly pitying Peyper for his 'bad day at the office' (a referee apparently has a bad day when he applies the same laws to the ABs as to other teams) and whinging about the 'other cause...

Re: Hard luck Wallabies

Maybe ungracious to say, but I thought Australia had easily the better of that, and the fact that we didnt get the win (I'm convinced if it went 5 minutes more we would have) shows how hard it is to break down the All Blacks. Even more, though, it showed how close we are to breaking them down.

Re: Folau - Folau yadayadayada

Another NZ Trojan Horse at work. There is currently a spate of them, working away, picking one point or another in Australian rugby to try and create doubt and uncertainty over, in the hope that everyone including the players will believe them and perform accordingly. This is a minor example, but th...

Re: Official Australia v France Test Match Thread

Great start to the series by the Wallabies, taking up where they left off in Wales last year. Only downside for me was the drop in standard of play of the bench forwards: the scrum fell apart, we weren't getting to the rucks in time, and the result was the French won the last 8 minutes of the game 1...

Re: Official Australia v France Test Match Thread

On the selections, I wouldnt say much to quibble about, but given there's new names in the Aussie team, I would have gone for combinations and partnered White and Toomua. Also, I know that Mowen had to be dropped, but after 10 years I am still waiting for evidence that Palu is an 80 minute player. T...

Re: Sharks vs Crusaders Soup rugby

Regarding Secret Agent Man's comment, 'good-looking World XV to face the Bokke', he didn't look at the forwards too closely. Good backs but a bunch of brand Xs and no-names up front, Schalk Brits excepted. Reckon they'll get well done because the forwards won't get the backs any ball.

Re: very well done Sharks!

Big effort despite one of them making hard for themselves. Deysel seems a complete moron. Not that he didn't have provocation, but numerous times this year he has roughed people up in ways that suggest he thinks he is a hero from a high-violence movie.

Is Jason Woodward eligible to play for the Wallabies now?

I ask because I believe the strongest possible back three Australia could field at the moment would be Woodward at fullback, with Izzy and the Honey-Badger on the wings. Without discounting all the great stuff Folau does at fullback, he puts in the occasional pop-gun kick for touch, whereas Woodward...

Re: FORCE v WARATAHS— R9 2014 SR Official Match Thread

Honpey-badger rampage! You can credit him with turning this game in the Force's favour, but the whole team deserve huge credit for taking the match by the scruff of the neck. Good referee but I thought the Force were a little lucky with some of the scrum penalties. True, the Tahs were often unstable...

Re: BRUMBIES v BLUES — R8 2014 SR Official Match Thread

Zakar wrong, I think - if it had been dry, Brumbies would have won by more and gotten the bonus point.

Just 2 other things:

.McCabe absolutely playing the house down

.Nonu got to be one of the greatest priques that effort took to a rugby field.

Re: Lyndon Bray - We don't need neutral refs and other stori

Watched for 4 minutes and he still hadn't gotten to the point (about neutral referees), so I baled out - I don't want to be here at lunchtime. Regardless, if he said we don't need neutral referees, he still has his head in the sand, and rugby continues to resist the level of professionalism that the...

Finally Bray takes his head out of the sand

Finally, after years of evidence, Lyndon Bray has conceded that Super Rugby referees need to be accountable, and there is a planned review and hopefully 'purge' of the S15 refs. Since S15 did away with neutral referees, we have had a return to the bad old days, of 'home town' victories facilitated b...

Re: The OFFICIAL Chiefs Vs Stormers SUPE Rugby Match Thread

That 'try' by the Chiefs' 12 after the ball was lost forward must rate as the greatest non-try awarded since Farrell's obstruction effort vs the Wallabies last year. The ball was passed to the 12, he lost it. You are running forward, you drop the ball, you have knocked on. The NZ video ref pointed t...

Re: PONIES V TAHS - Official Match Thread

Foley is an excellent 10 and really takes the ball to the line, but tonight Toomua would win a 2-man race for the spot by a mile. Great that Cooper played so well for the Wallabies at the end of last year. It means there's very strong 3-man competition for the spot. Don't know why people are carryin...

Re: PONIES V TAHS - Official Match Thread

Great game. Tahs had been irresistible up till now but this time came up against the strongest prop in Australia (which the Wallaby selectors dont seem to realise) - Brumbies dominated 1st half scrums and the stage was set. Folau try is a contender for this year's 'Individual S15 try of the tourname...

There was the recent bombing in Russia - was it traced to the Ukraine and hence the retaliation?

Granted all that but he is still a better referee than Alain Rolland or that twit (where did the IRB dig him up from?) who refereed the Lions-Reds game.
