Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Healy has fallen so far its actually car crash stuff at this stage. Furlong and McGrath are the clear Irish starters, but the bench cover is up for grabs I reckon. Ryan continues to improve so Bealham better be on his his best. Healy is living on a bit of reputation. There's kilcoyne, Buckley plus ...

I'd give him a go for the record, I just prefer to talk in terms of what Schmidt may or may not do. I find it hard to see Sweetnam coming from essentially nowhere to starting in the 6N, unfortunately. He's been really excellent this year though for me. Another thing that crossed my mind was that Le...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Don't think Scannell is the type of quality to challenge Henshaw or Ringrose for the centre combination, or the Ulster lads. He'll provide a good solid option and well the lads do have a habit of breaking these days. Henshaw and Rinrose are out in front, but Scannell is forcing his way into the con...

Munster are going to really miss Taute when he's gone. When is Saili back? He was back in full training this week so is close to being available, but Taute has been unbelievable. He may be limited in certain aspects but he works his arse off, hits like a train, and runs superb lines. I was hugely i...

Long Mike Gibson is a good call- for the second row. He won a few caps there and and was more convincing than franno. Add Jim glennon to the more convincing than Franno flu as well-less talented but he tried.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

If we're being honest, we were looking shaky in defence even with Payne on. Sexton and Henshaw make a huge difference to our linespeed but I also think we deliberately chose to soak because we didn't want to get caught out by their passing game. Also, we fell off Folau in particular too many times ...

I can understand Joe's reluctance with introducing new players a bit more now. In hindsight Marshall wo...

Hendersons an interesting one. Great athlete, full of potential but still no clear position. Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Some of the attack limitations of our back theee can be changed by changes elsewhere. Payne is a great strike runner but does not have great acceleration. Move him to 15, ringrose to 13 straightaway you have a faster line overall, and one that would give our wings that extra yard of space. On the 12...

Someone brought up depth earlier. Do we start Marmion or McGrath next week ahead of Murray, who clearly looked unfit? 9 is a position where we have zero depth and the only way to build it is to give backups gametime. The advantage Earls has for the 23 shirt is both his experience at this level and the fact he's played wing and 13 for Joe and has played 15. There is zero chance he'll come on at FB but your point still stands. It's a coin flip between Ringrose and Earls for the bench spot. I'd be happy with eithe...
