Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Marmion = unlucky and will be holidaying in Japan. Toner = a little less so, especially if he's taken a knock. Several guys are pretty lucky to be going - marginal calls and them's the breaks. Whatever happened to " In Joe We Trust " ? Joe can stick it up his hole. He was to make the hard calls thi...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
The problem with Beirne covering the backrow is that the games you want him to play there in, he'll be in the second row. I can't see Ryan and Hendo starting more than two games. I suppose POM starts at 7 in one of the lesser games and VDF in the other? Ruddock and most likely Conan to start both. ...

No Marmion is a real  Not that I think there's a huge amount between them, but he hasn't put a foot wrong, is the man in possession and Joe has shown loads of faith in him previously. But, how is POM going to be our dirt tracker 7? Assuming he's involved in the Scotland & Japan games he can'...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Hard to know where the first choice team is at this stage. Think I'd go for Scannell over Best, definitely Hendo and Ryan, fecked if I know what our best backrow is, Marmion over Murray, Henshaw at 12 but Ringrose looking dodgy at 13. Earls at 14 on rep but could be Conway yet, Addison looked posit...

JVF will be 7 for the big games. We have to have a back up 7 in the squad. The only other specialist 7 still in training group is TOD. He is unlikely to be travelling. So we are looking at a 6.5 type player. Playing as a 7 the relevant group- Pom,Ruddock, CJ,Conan, maybe J Murphy- are all ok, all a ...

His problem is his primary positions are also well covered by CJ, POM Conan, and to a lesser extent by Henderson and possibly Beirne. How cover for open side is considered will decide his faith.Risteard wrote:I would have thought, particularly in light of injuries, Ruddock was always a cert for the squad.

Was particularly impressed the way they presented the ball for the scrum half to allow a quick move, rather than focussing on protecting the ...

So just the bench to be confirmed. Sounds like Scannell, Kilcoyne, Ryan favourite over Porter, Beirne, Conan possibly, Marmion, Carty and Larmour Conan on the bench? Not enough credit being given to Italy, especially in the first half. Our back up team just won an away bonus point in the six nations. Not bad! Kearney remains our best 15 because of his defense, in the style described by Camroc. However we have no established back up, despite his injury record. I didn't realise an 0-8 loss for Munster this weekend would actually put them out. Haven't been paying attention to the tables enough. Pretty sure Exeter would still need a bonus point though.
