Re: Irish navy patrol vessel grounds Northern Irish trawlers

Of course, the irony is that the Orla is ex-Royal Navy. Hong Kong ex Peacock class and passed its sell by date at this stage. The debate is whether to replace them with another couple of 50 - 60m CPVs or two more 90 -100m Beckett class like OPVs. The sensible thing is to recognise that the Irish se...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

There were times yesterday when I was watching the performance through my fingers. Some of it was very ropey. It is clear that the England defeat came as a great shock to the players and has had a significant psychological impact. Moreover, to then go to Scotland, a team up for this game like no oth...

This is a truly impressive performance. Old school. I personally think that Akihas played him self into the starting position for one of the centre spots of the Ireland team. He just always seems to be fit when it’s international rugby time. The same cannot be said of RingRose, Farrell and Henshaw.

Henshaw needs to play in the six nations. Otherwise, it is a year outside the Ireland team. Normally he would be nailed on but when you have Aki and Farrell playing well then it is a struggle.

Actually, the pronunciation of Hereford is not the only blatant fudge up. Natasha McElone’s Character’s name is Deirdre. Pronounced correctly it is dear-dra. But Jonathan Price, who plays the IRA mastermind Pronounces it as Dear-dree. A.k.a. Coronation Street style.

As it stands May's deal completely fails the sovereignty test. We legally cannot decide our own future. This could change though, despite what the EU says now. If not, its looking more and more like no deal. Its looking more and more like no Brexit. Looking more and more like a people's vote. :thum...

The EU's position seems very clear - indeed until a couple of days ago May herself said that this was the best and only deal and no more negotiation. The policy has tightened up a bit (Sexton said something about it being possible that he wouldn't have been allowed play under the tighter policy) but the unwritten rule has always been that unless you're a key part of the 23, you won't be picked abroad. “Tightened up” you say, Sexton said “somethi...

The European Union have made it clear that this is essentially take it or leave it territory. It is either this or no Deal. There isn’t time for anything else, no second referendum, no renegotiation, no significant extension of article 50.
