Re: 2024/2025 Champions Cup
Taking Michael's as an example (4 players for Leinster at the weekend). There are no scholarships. It's first come first served. Also, schools in Ireland can no longer have waiting lists or favour children of past pupils (or if they do only a small percentage). They absolutely find space for someon...

Re: 2024/2025 Champions Cup
For the third time, because of the Leinster rule about representing your school in the senior cup, there is no poaching, via scholarship or otherwise. With specific regard to scholarships at St Mary's, while they technically exist they're very rare and they liaise with Belvedere College in this reg...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
We're still well short of the arrogance Munster supporters displayed from 2000 until, roughly, 18.36 on May 2nd 2009. It's not like it's the Munster branches job to develop the game in their province or anything. Nope. Two rugby popular cities in cork and Limerick. A large farmer strength region to...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Reality is that for years you lot pricked around rather than developing properly - you didn't use the advantages given to you properly and needed to be reigned in. I think we have been given serious leeway on the TP debt, but that's as much payback for the province having dragged Irish rugby throug...

The only thing worse than not getting what you want is getting what you want. 40% clawback on CCs mostly affecting Leinster but prospectively hitting the other provinces as they get them. And there's really no higher you can go that makes a difference. I suppose you could go another 10% to 50% and ...

Do you have proof of that or is that simply your opinion? It is both strong rumour and my strong opinion. Neither the IRFU nor Leinster are frivolous with money. 90% of their games are one-way processions - I'm genuinely amazed their numbers are so high. Wot It’s a well known fact that fans hate it when their team wins all the time…… If you look at the attendances, Leinster basically stopped growing about 10 years ago. This coincided with the URC (or Pro wh...

Re: Are Leinster the best supported club team in World rugby.
Yeah because getting to the same stadium is brutal A noticeable lack of kids and 'country' rugby club gear at LR last night. A six day turnaround, and a Friday night game that wasn't over until 10pm will do that. Spivs FTW. There's a fair few Munster heads have managed to get to France this weekend...

Re: Are Leinster the best supported club team in World rugby.
It's crazy that the likes of Nowlan park hasn't been used but the time to do it was now with the RDS closed. Beyond that it should be making that a home again and selling out every single game (including the ones moved to Lansdowne Road). A half full Aviva for regular season games is rubbish, zero ...

Re: Are Leinster the best supported club team in World rugby.
I'd have moved most games to the Aviva and looked elsewhere in the province for a couple of games a year. I think West Dublin could do with a 20k- 25k stadium for GAA, rugby and football. I’d agree with that, even to have the bigger ground in Kildare/Meath, close to a train line for access from tow...

A few data point to keep an eye on, to benchmark Trump's impact on the economy. Jan 2025 - when power was handed over to him: YoY inflation: 3% Unemployment: 4% US debt: $36.2 trillion The metrics are going to get worse. He has just f**ked it completely, the question is how much he gets away with o...

Re: Are Leinster the best supported club team in World rugby.
Going again with the RDS was a huge mistake imo. I agree. Just repeating the same 'Donnybrook' mistake. We need a 30 - 35k stadium, which I think could be done in the RDS by redeveloping the 'Grandstand'. The RDS own the ST Mary's Church site as well. Getting funding could be a tad difficult though...

The European Cup is a complete non-entity now. No one watches it. No one knows what channel it is on. And no one can be arsed to find out. It’s on its arse. I'm sure us Welsh will get the blame somehow. I mean the Welsh Regions signed their own death warrant. They backed English clubs and agreed to...

It's almost like we can't support 4 pro clubs, either financially or with playing talent. I've been banging this drum for a while. Is there no potential here for someone like the Scots to place some Union funded talent here to subsidise the Regions? If you take the Scots and the Welsh you seem to h...

Re: Are Leinster the best supported club team in World rugby.
Pretty sure Bordeaux play in a ~35k stadium and sell out every single week. They averaged 24k last year I think, has it increased? What is fairly remarkable about Leinster's attendances is the quality of the opposition and also the fact that we regularly play B/C teams. That's partly why the Barret...

I see Jim O’Callaghan is working quickly in terms of asylum centres.
