Re: The Rugby Strength and Conditioning Thread

I have been mixing up sets and reps quite a bit, but that is roughly the routine. I want to start incorporating squats but have poor hip/ankle flexibility, mainly due to sitting all day. Any tips to improve this? Plus, I want to work on my grip strength. What specific exercise would you recommend t...

Yup. Moore on recent form could be in our first choice 23 by the end of next season and Furlong is still young but could be joining him soon after. Has Moore been playing that much recently? I didn't even know he was getting much gametime. Playing AIL mainly for Lansdowne. Only just turned 22 so is...

Still unravelling from 10 hours shovelling snow, planning a few wee home gym upgrades. Does anyone know anything about spin bikes? The missus is very keen and it would be handy to have something we can use in the house when the kids are in bed. The domestic/light commercial ones are about 500 lids ...

IN the 1997 movie 'The Game', starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn, in one of the last scenes an extra quotes Scripture to Douglas' main character. Specifically he quotes John 9:25: "whereas once I was blind, now I can see." James Downey has described the improvement in Munster's play at the week...

Stats You're fond of dismissing my uncomfortable truths as trolling but the fact is that Leinster had Fitz in a tight spot last year and used it to their advantage in negotiations. Now it's payback time. Payback time? It's not as if the 5 games of rugby that Luke has played since those last contrac...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Fitzgerald won't make a big impact at Munster. Not quick enough for the wing, never convincing at centre and far too injury prone. I've always felt he would make a great 12. Maybe more 13 now given the size increases. You dont make 25yo centres. If he were any good there he'd be playing there alrea...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

I think these moves are a good thing, you have to give a certain number of Academy kids a proper shot every season, and the journeymen take their game time without adding a lot to their provinces, or anything to Ireland. Munster's midfield could shape up very nicely, JJ is a talent, LLL is still a ...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Chopping some deadwood from the backline stocks still won't fix our stinky-ass midfield. If we use a 10 that can pass and has some threat when running the mid field will look an awful lot better. Its funny.... Downey or Laulala or Dineen or whoever taking the ball flat on the flat on the gainline =...

Do you think Kearney will tour? Dunno. Depends on how much truth there is in Gatland saying the 6N is only part of his selection process. Kearney was nailed on to tour and at one stage to start less than a year ago. He may need a very good April to get his foot on the plane. I think bringing someon...
