Re: The state of the NZRU..
I’m running through the review now, I’ve a nerdy interest in such things. Is Aotearoa New Zealand likely to become official? It’s a bit like calling Ireland Eireann Ireland, seems a bit forced and clunky The Republic of Ireland is very forced and clunky; however this is avoided by just calling it I...

The season isn’t over and the Crusaders are still in it. Good luck to whatever high-ranked team that might meet them in the finals.

Re: The state of the NZRU..
The nub of the issue is that the players association want all the provincial representatives on the NZR board to resign and apply for their jobs. Not have guaranteed seats. The provincial representatives, fearing loss of power, don’t want to do that. With all due respect, that does not seem like it...

Re: The state of the NZRU..
Something about some board members having to have been on a provincial union committee for a year or two or summit. There must be a few org charts knocking about Shirley? So the 'players' will force a split between amateur and professional rugby... Again. Because more money should go to professiona...

Even though he was a liability at times last year, he's consistently shown slight improvement. He's got the size and strength to be a top flight Prop, I wonder if having JTA at the Reds has helped his development.

The troll farm playbook: Listen carefully, comrades: The trick is not to go in full blast pro-Russia and anti-Ukraine and give the game away. Be low key -- and therefore penetrating and reverberative; do just enough to plant a seed of doubt. Peddle the following tropes: NATO are not impeccable good...

I never understood Silver Lake to be frank. Throwing money at an unsustainable business model doesn't suddenly make it a sustainable one and I never really saw how they planned to turn it around. From the outside it looks as if New Zealand Rugby has been very successful over a long period, so what's the basic gripe? 1. NZRU sold off a chunk of its future revenue for a cash injection that was seemingly pissed away. On what (broadly speaking)? 2. NZRU has chosen a model that does not reward i...

We need more games imo: - More players get exposure - More opportunities for clubs to generate revenue - More opportunity to generate broadcast revenue with the additional content. 14 games isn’t enough. Useful opportunity for the next tranche of players to step up in place of those dozens... Our setup just doesn't provide this. The French and Irish do it and they don’t call up players from a third tier. Why can’t it be done? The answer seems to be, “because we want a third tier”. This so-called "t...

Still, the UK clubs have many more games each year, which they leverage to pinch our star players. Yeah. Angry punters, some of them Some of them. But I’d wager that most league fans want Australian rugby to be strong. Australians inherently want Australian teams to do well, right? Interesting Where do you get your stats from? That reads a bit unfair. All those players have what every Oz player seems to suffer, inconsistency. You dont get rid of performing stars, no team seems to have any that stand up from Feb to June. Example Harrison beats the Crusaders and next week he plays like the third pick flyhalf he is. Coleman...

My immediate reaction is satisfaction that the NZRPA is calling on NZR to account. I only wish we had a similar opportunity in Australia. Similar in Australia would be nice, but with the proviso that the way of getting there is markedly dissimilar. I'd prefer RA to not enter into any private equity...

The Tahs recruitment and development has been so f**ked up over the last few years under Coleman. Getting rid of real talent that needs to be nurtured into the role like Will Harris, and keeping spuds like Gleeson and Gamble on the park. Ben Houston running around in Shute shield is a better 8 than...

What sort of bar are you using for that assessment relating to Trump's minimal long term impact, if I can use that phrase? I didn’t say minimal impact.
