Re: Lions tour 2025 - f****d already
All of NZ (except maybe Enz) is praying that the 2025 Lions coach is Ian Foster. Holy shit. We really need to run a Stalinist revisionist campaign wiping all anti-Foz NZ media articles, forum posts, Facebook groups et al from history and start planting stories in the UK media about Foster's genius,...

Re: Bledisloe II: All Blacks vs Wallabies: MATCH THREAD: Sat 14th August
Fair enough. Well, I thoroughly disagree with that. These are pro teams who should be able to handle the change. And the quality should not drop away when new players come on, quite the opposite. Bringing too many players in at once can lead to issues, that is a different story, and what happened t...

Re: Bledisloe II: All Blacks vs Wallabies: MATCH THREAD: Sat 14th August
- Michael Hooper was the best forward on the park imo. He’s an amazing player. Better than ever. His spot isn’t up for discussion but I’ll just mention it here as I’m just typing random thoughts. He was. First time I've seen him in person for awhile and he is better than at any stage of his career....

Re: Lions tour 2025 - f****d already
He certainly has the best results of any recent Lions coach. The fact that he is the only recent Lions coach might have something to with that, but anyway.
Would kiwis have an ulterior motive in wanting him to continue to focus on the Lions rather than, say, disrupting the Chiefs again? Perhaps

Haven't seen the game yet but bringing Steyn on late to win it in that exact fashion is so bonkers brilliant that Rassie deserves to get a disciplinary pass from WR

Don't think the numbers on the backs of the loosies matter at all, save for how they pack in most scrums. Papalii was playing like a blindside, Savea like an openside and Akira like a no 8/blindside hybrid from what I could see.

I'm not convinced, no clear gameplan and no new ideas as far as I can see. Bit of credit to wobs midfield though, stopped our backs from getting any rhythm early. The game plan in the first half was to play expansive rugby in awful conditions. They had an (admittedly swirling) tail wind in the firs...

Re: Should we start to worry about Brodie Retallick?
You’re mental. That was Brodie clearly rebuilding his cvnt meter back to full power and it was great to see. Could have been carded for all the pens though, was at least smart enough to infringe in so many different ways that the officials wouldn’t know what to send him off for. Hooper and co were o...

I was there. The ABs weren’t for most of it. The only positives were things that should be expected every week anyway eg great work rate from the locks, great tempo from Snecky when driving the attack and a solid shift from Akira. The Wallabies were good value once they sorted their handling. Hooper...

This test was heading for an easy sell out when I checked a few weeks ago, looks like the cancelled tickets for now non-travelling Wallabies fans have come back on the market and unlikely to shift given there's now another test here next week. Eden Park and NZR would be almost hoping the ABs lose, t...

Towno is right, Savea is the only genuinely internationally proven we have on deck at the moment. For all of their talents both Jacobson and Papalii are extremely green and Rennie will no doubt be looking to exploit that. Good post. Except the last bit - we won’t be trying to exploit shit. There are two main causes at play. The first what Matt Williams calls an 'overly-officious' approach to refereeing the game; both in terms of volume of penalties as well as referrals to the TMO. The you have players, particularly from teams with gigantic packs, taking a knee at every opportunity. T...

Throw in Jordan & Reece'ss instinct for the gaps and we have an attacking force as good as any AB side in the last 20 odd years. I don't think any combination of players would get close to matching the attacking threat of, say, Young Snecky - mature DC - Prime Savea - NonuRad - peak NMS - Bender (w...

On the consistency point are there any players in that list that won’t make it due to age (meaning they would be unlikely?). As discussed with Sam W & Dane time will tell / Sam C injuries will tell. Some will be overtaken (Weber?) and same may leave NZ (DMAC) but that’s a great core to build with. ...

Pretty good side given the injuries. Very pleased to the see the Mounga-Havili-ALB combo on show and Reiko on the wing. The contrast is stark. A, relatively minor, breach of team protocols and Rennie stands down three players - one of whom is likely an important starter. Frizell, at least from the reports made public, assaults a woman at least two separate times and then harrases her afterwards. Foster - "Just boys w...
