Re: Let's hope this isn't the next major air disaster

Latest news this morning seems to be the Malaysian military are denying claims that anyone tracked the plane turning and flying west ... but it still seems that they are searching the straights of Malacca, hundreds of kilometres away ... This is getting weirder and weirder. The initial "senior milit...

Re: Let's hope this isn't the next major air disaster

God knows. One would think that if miracles were going to occur, the most likely outcome would be that they plane ditched in the ocean and everyone's floating around in life rafts somewhere. The weirdest thing is the complete lack of communication. I have heard these things have back-up systems buil...

Simon Shaw, Brad Thorn, POC, Nathan Sharp and Victor Matfield (year off or not). Just read that the Malaysian military think they tracked it way off course (as already mentioned), but also it was possibly flying low with communications devices switched off. If true, that sounds highly suspect.

Re: Let's hope this isn't the next major air disaster

Why did it turn sharply to the left? If they were looking for land or even veering wildly out of control, you'd think they would have issued an emergency signal of some sort if they had time to travel hundreds of kilometres of course. Seems terrorism is very unlikely, especially due to the fact that...

Re: Your plane breaks up at 10km altitude. When do you die?

It's not a question worth pondering, even given the recent Malaysian Airlines mystery. The chance of dying in a plane crash on a first-world carrier are about on in 20-million (according to Dr. Arnold Barnett, MIT aviation safety statistician). Considering mid-cruise break-ups are almost unheard of...
