Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

Never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually in favour of all of these. The free-kick at scrum without a reset we definitely be to the detriment of the Boks, but I think it will be better in for the game in the long run. I just hope we can figure out a way to weaponse the free-kick a bit better. Ec...

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

Murray Kinsella @Murray_Kinsella World Rugby confirms it is moving to outlaw the 'croc roll' clearout. To be confirmed by World Rugby Council in May. The 'Dupont Law' loophole also set to be closed, as is case in Super Rugby Pacific now. And WR set to remove scrum option when teams win a free-kick ...

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

One way to deal with the free kick for scrum loophole is to make it clear that any team deliberately doing it will be guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct with a resulting penalty and yellow card (2nd offence) red card (3rd offence) Agree in theory, but how does one police the difference between delib...

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

Get rid of the jackals... back to good old rucking... no need for croc rolls then... proper competition at the breakdown without the lolly scramble... My understanding of the Jackal is that it is another word for "picking the ball up from the floor". Once a ruck is formed then you can't pick the ba...

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

But didn't players start rolling player off rucks because they are more likely to get carded for clearing out using the shoulder and it makes contact with the head. Think WR is determined to get rid of rucks and any other slow play sets. Without rucks and mauls and jackals then there is no contest ...

Re: South Africa overflow of rugby players

What is the new comp for non-URC teams? I don't see how the URC sides (without their Boks) will be able to field strong teams for a Jul-Sept Currie Cup. I think the Jul-Sept window for CC makes the best sense overall but that means the bigger unions will be fielding development sides. the non-URC t...

Re: South Africa overflow of rugby players

Unfortunately the Currie Cup has become the "Vodacom Cup" of the current era. The days of strength vs strength are gone. Mostly the young players that are not often involved with the URC games will be the ones to do duty in the Currie Cup, so we will see the smaller unions taking the cup more often...

I do hope than Sam Warburton will give the playoff game idea a rest now that is isn’t a given that it will always be Italy that has to play in it. Re: I can’t wait for Jeff’s ratings. Is this the worst Welsh team ever?

I predict you'll see a renaissance in the Wallabies, culminating in them at least making the final of the 2027 World Cup... Wales are doing the right thing, starting again... it's a new era... seeing who can handle test rugby and who can't.. things will settle down over the next few years once he s...

Wales will be relieved to only be 11 points behind.
