Re: Sail GP in Lyttelton Harbour, Christchurch, NZ
Booji, commercial and pleasure vessels do not move through the water almost silently at 50 knots. The larger, noisier vessels will cause the dolphins to move away. Hence the rules that they had to follow. Citizen. Please. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6e/29/51/6e29514e2712688ca38bb9394069c295.png

Bloody tax payers and rate payers throwing money at the@#$ https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/sport/512998/sailgp-in-christchurch-received-millions-in-government-council-funds Is that a $5.5 million spend on the back of receiving $4.1 million from the city and the govt? I wonder whether the port charged $1...

Re: The state of the NZRU..
Perhaps we have to have the right people running clubs. PUs etc, and a different skills are than required for running top end? It appears the top end people haven't managed to assuage the concerns of legacy stakeholders that volunteer systems won't survive a clash with for profit corporatism. Or not.

Re: Sail GP in Lyttelton Harbour, Christchurch, NZ
I wonder why our Wussell didn't spend a few bucks and do just that? Do what exactly, I’m not seeing your point in relation to what I said I'm assuming Enz is saying if Coutts/SailGP didn't like those conditions they shouldn't have signed up for them. Yes. You'd think that not signing a contract you...

Re: Sail GP in Lyttelton Harbour, Christchurch, NZ
You may not care about the sailing itself but isn't bringing events like this to Christchurch, or any major town or city, a good thing? Within limits We're getting the V8's here in Taupo next month. I couldn't give a flying f u ck about V8 racing but it's a huge event for the town and will bring in...

Re: Pie Makers of Auckland
Right, next one. Mustard Kitchen 5 Morningside Drive. Curry Beef Bought warm, reheated. 300gm $9.00 An interesting pie shape, sort of like those English pork pies but much bigger. A tall pie with a large air gap at the top. Adequate pastry, a slightly short puff is how I'd describe it. The filling f...

Let's see how far you or I get if we try and ignore the terms and conditions of a contract we signed up to, eh? I never had you pegged down as an anarchist. You don’t have to be an anarchist to use a bit of common sense, now I realise that in today’s society common sense has been virtually outlawed...

Re: Sail GP in Lyttelton Harbour, Christchurch, NZ
I get it, I really do, we won’t be hosting these sorts of events in the future because no one in their right mind will be offering them to us. We won’t be seeing the Americas Cup back in NZ for quite some time, no matter how many times we win it. I personally don’t mind the idea of living in splend...

Who is acting entitled here? We (us kiwis) have been given an opportunity to host a global event which has a worldwide audience of over a billion people, if you count all forms of media and a TV audience of 240 million, what are we supposed to do, say to them - look thanks very much for the offer b...

I’ll try and read the latest report in a more leisurely manner once I’m off the cruise ship WiFi but it is more than a little concerning that we don’t have more papers on the program, beyond the critical Treasury feedback and the ones mentioned above, as it is a serious issue that deserves better. ...

You make a good point. I'm surprised Robertson didn't make residential landlords pay GST. After all commercial rental property and other businesses don't get to enjoy that 'loophole'. Not sure what the thinking on gst exempt was but it does mean they can't claim gst against the business afaik. Kind...

Re: Sail GP in Lyttelton Harbour, Christchurch, NZ
So why did little Wussel agree to the rules if he didn't want to abide by them? The reason I quite like the abandonment is that it pissed him off. The best bit is that Sail GP wrote the rules/management plan, the same rules it ignored last year when dolphins were observed. Sail GP wants a fee and i...

Which is why they won't be back. Christchurch's loss. Great - everyone's happy. Why did we do this thread then? Re: The state of the NZRU..
NZR was set up in the amateur era, and its governance structure has barely changed. The only way to shake it up is with a Super League-esque shake up. The provinces will never agree to reduce their power and influence. The provinces fear support for community participation/spread will suffer. How v...

At this stage Labour could propose a great idea but NAct would shoot it down because it's a Labour idea, and vice versa. It seems we're moving away from what's best for NZ and more into American style politics where it's us and them. At this stage? In fact, since I've been politically aware. Beginn...

They've exploited the rich by stealing expensive clothes, now they're exploiting the poor and vulnerable. Equal opportunity exploitation. I still expect falling interest rates to have more impact on rental prices, especially if renters switch to being owners and demand falls. I don't get this. Surely it's the "same" house - i.e. they are still in a house whether owned or rented, and it is the still the same supply/demand pressure. In...

So landlords who bought 20 years ago and have no mortgage are not charging the full rents - i.e. their costs are lower and they are passing this on to tenants. Yeah, right. Supply and demand set the rental costs, not interest deductibility. Citizen. Please. Facts have no place in Luxo's reality.
