In that context to what would his query about a hand/arm under the ball refer?enzedder01 wrote:Normally, but in this case the ref asked the "any reason not to ... " question so it is a try if it is unclear. If it's unclear who first grounded the ball, 5 metre scrum.

Re: Not quite The last England Try (Brown's)
If that was Jane's arm under the ball as it was grounded would there be anything to dispute? Only if Jane was in sole possession if it. Though I'm no longer sure what you are arguing TBF. If it's unclear who first grounded the ball, 5 metre scrum. edit...To be honest my original question wasn't arg...

Re: Not quite The last England Try (Brown's)
Not actually related to my statement. I was replying to this. "I only get the TMO saying there is an arm under the ball, not that it's held up or hasn't been grounded" The TMO would only make reference to the hand under the ball if it was not grounded because otherwise there is nothing to dispute. ...

Yes. In this context I am assuming the TMO is assuming the ball is touching the ground and the question is who is holding it.blackblackblack wrote:And touching the ground with it. (It means the ball, not his arm/hand/willy)

Re: Not quite The last England Try (Brown's)
Just to clear up a pedantic point, I only get the TMO saying there is an arm under the ball, not that it's held up or hasn't been grounded. Fair comment, or have I missed something else? He wouldn't mention a hand under the ball if it didn't prevent grounding now would he? What would be the point? ...

Re: Not quite The last England Try (Brown's)
This one seems to be it: 22.15 DOUBT ABOUT GROUNDING If there is doubt about which team first grounded the ball in the in-goal, play is re-started by a 5-metre scrum, in line with the place where the ball was grounded. The attacking team throws in the ball. http://www.rugby.nl/sites/default/files/be...

Hmmmmm. Changed my mind after seeing that first link. Ayoub seems to ignore/didn't see that there were two hands under the ball, which I think was actually the point of the ref's query.

The other thing is what is 'ground'? Because I think it was clearly shown that the ball touched the grass at least, so if the grass is 'ground' then try, no doubt at all.

NZ to move the ball all over the park and tire these fat slow chubby Saffers out. It's going to be close NZ by 1. They have the potential. And SA has the potential to shut them down with good defense, and obliterate them in contact. Pollard has all the savvy needed to lead his team. We'll see. Don'...

This is starting to have all the hallmarks of the prelude to a shattering defeat, with NZ rampant and England smashed off the park, followed by headlines about "World Cup preparations in tatters". :( What if England play the ABs off the park, win with a score of more than 5 ? I guess the headlines ...

Possibly, probably, who knows, I've seen no exit polls nor breakdown of the vote. But apparently the level of vote was as high as the presidential election, and twice that of the neighbouring district. Something was going down. Of course the other point is that the Tea Party candidate beat the 2nd ranked Republican in the House of Representatives, who outspent the T-Bagger 25 to 1.
