Re: SR Aotearoa 'Team of the Week' Round 8

I love the fight that is in Christie - good player. Caleb Clarke is also looking pretty good at this stage - getting harder to not imagine him wearing the fern one day. Clarke is too one dimensional for my money. Big and fast is all well and good but that can be contained. What else can he bring to...

Ben Blair over Christian Cullen in 2002, and finally.. MacDonald over Umaga in that fateful 2003 Semi-Final. Are you stupid? Assistant coach Deans never attended a single AB selection meeting. He was forbidden from attending selection meetings as part of his NZRU contract because of the perceived c...

Re: SR Aotearoa 'Team of the Week' Round 8

Yeah distinct lack of lumpy being mentioned. At all. I’d put him in my midfield before Ennor and Ioane in a heartbeat. Lumpy plays 12 and he plays that position in one way. High impact attacking ball carrier with an occasional kick. Ioane and Ennor play 13 or wing. Both have speed and precision on ...

Re: SR Aotearoa 'Team of the Week' Round 8

Still have DickMo as player of the week here. He didn't miss a trick last night (albeit behind a dominant pack) His kicking wasn't up to his usual standards I feel. Still comfortably the best 10 going around, in my opinion, but an off night from the tee Unusual from Mo'unga, but just another day at...

Re: Chiefs vs Crusaders: MATCH THREAD: Sat 1st August

Harsh but technically correct is a fair assessment. The truth is the laws want to YC anyone hitting a ball they have no chance of catching, but not penalise anyone genuinely attempting to catch. This has been translated to knocking up = good and knocking down = bad. A stupid and hamfisted way of han...

I don’t think it was, speed was everything. The bureaucratic gears of govt are slow and cumbersome. Waiting to enact legislation could have changed everything. it should be an absolute last resort only used when there are gaps in the law or unforeseen situations that the law doesn't cover. Which would fit the lockdown situation, surely? Nailed it. No one is saying Foster should not be picked solely on his RWC performance though. There is far more to it than that. NZers can accept coaches who lost the rwc (Henry). But Henry gave us two of our most dominant years ever in 05 and 06. Has foster done anything for us?

The government took actions which most agree were appropriate and necessary. A lot of people point to Foster's record pre-All Blacks as evidence he sin't good enough. NZRU old men’s club at its worst.
