Re: **OFFICIAL** English Rugby Thread
IFW has come in and immediately shown what a winger needs to be doing. Fast, powerful, looks for work. Players like OHC and Arundell, for England at least, lacked that last bit. I’ve always thought Caden should have been given a run, but it feels like that ship has sailed. He clearly doesn’t have s...

Re: LRZ
I see that the Chiefs have posted LRZ's top speed in a match as being 2mph (24.something mph) faster than Tyreek Hill's fastest game speed. That is some interesting marketing right there. I bet Tyreek hits his top speed a lot quicker than LRZ does, though. A few points: TH made that run with helmet...

Somehow - and I’m not about to start looking a gift horse in the mouth - they sell 6 large bottles of Stella for $10 over here, so my Monday evenings watching the sunset over downtown Austin are greatly enhanced in the chilled company of Mrs Artois. I was knocked back at the cheapness of the Stella...

I need to hear a little more about WR not blocking.  fudge, I was hoping I'd get away with that when I read it back! That's how the internet works, You can post scrolls of text and some Dickhead will highlight a tiny piece of it  Dwain Chambers had a go at nfl and rugby league, he w...

Well well well. Seems Sanderson wasn't bluffing when he said we'd been focusing on our attack. Some great performances, Roebuck showed how good he is and Curry made a monumental difference. So physical on both sides of the ball, a joy to watch. Ford marshalled things nicely and Quirke made a big im...

Re: **OFFICIAL** English Rugby Thread
Isiekwe on the other hand has a horrible tackling technique. The contrast between him and Lawes is stark. They both have very similar physical attributes. One plays rugby like his life depends on it. The other runs around looking like he doesn't want to get involved in the rough stuff. Yeah that is...

Not sure, but it's FT. Newcastle 13-19 Leicester That feels like a poor result for tigers? It was, they were dreadful. Any other team would have put them away. What happened at the end was bizzare. If you want to be competitive in the Premiership, then you need an ownership that's goin...

it seems questionable in the extreme there's only one way to be a conservative and anyone who steps away from one strand of conservatism should be derided for not having a sufficiently pure take on conservatism. Rory Stewart, Amber Rudd, Dominic Grieve, these people are dyed in the wool conservativ...

Re: Why have Newcastle been so poor this season?
This is the answer. They are spending the least on wages in the Prem by a country mile. They don't attract the talent, and what little they develop tends to go elsewhere for more cash. This is what ringfencing and high salary caps have done to the Prem. We basically have three cohorts of clubs this...

Re: Why have Newcastle been so poor this season?
They don't really sell though. They just shed players at the end of contract or even mid contract recently. There's no windfall from it as there's not a transfer market to speak of in pro rugby. They have cut costs down to the bone try to survive until the financial reality of pro rugby in England ...

Re: Why have Newcastle been so poor this season?
They sell all of their best players, and repeating it again at the end of the season. If all rugby clubs stayed within their means, then the likes of Newcastle would be more competitive.

We are now in the Mitchell/Spencer era. Possibly JVP backing them up. About bloody time. We could easily skip past Spencer and have one of JVP, Quirke or even Randall on the bench. Spencer is only a couple of years younger than Youngs, or only a decade younger than Care! Which is to say Spencer's t...

Imagine picking care ahead of Spencer. Some good bits so far in this game. It's absolutely insane. Care is surely done now? Although he should've been retired years ago. Spencer seems tailor-made for test rugby but has never got a proper shot. Very strange. Makes my brain hurt. Pretty well matched ...
