Re: The best new and returning TV series of 2020?
Maybe relatable would be a better word - this stuff isn’t exactly cinema verité is it. You picked out Kim as being the key character for you but I find her one of the less well drawn. I’m not saying BB is without its faults either - the female characters across the board aren’t that strong. Why do ...

I don’t get the love for Better Call Saul, I mean, it’s OK, but for me it detracts from Breaking Bad. I didn’t feel Saul needed a back story anyway - he was a bit of a shyster at the start of his career, so why do we need 6 series depicting his fall from grace? Good luck pitching that idea to the n...

Odenkirk is much better In BB - where his character isn’t saddled with so much pathos, but then I’ve never been a big fan of that.Floppykid wrote:I haven't seen BB yet so please don't spoil.
I loved BCS because Odenkirk is a lot of fun to watch play a fun character.
Mike is great too.

Re: The best new and returning TV series of 2020?
Boardwalk Empire worth watching? Very well-made and has a good cast. At times it feels a little stagey, but it's worth giving it a whirl. Yeah, it's mostly just to get more Buscemi after rewatching sopranos. Gandolfini would have worked much better in the lead role, but probably brought to much bag...

If there's a beer you like on there, they're not bad value at all. At a quick glance I'd go for either the magic rock or the thornbridge over the tiny rebel. I've got a couple of the list and grounded keller pills on the way, but that's direct from them I like how they say a keg will last 30 days :...

If you like westerns with a bit of 70’s grit/naturalism have a look at Bad Company (which is on Netflix, I think). With a nice performance from a young Jeff Bridges, it’s about a bunch of kids trying to be desperado’s with generally comic/tragic results.

Don't think I'll bother with the Last Dance, Michael Jordan overseeing everything leaves a sour taste. He comes across as a massive cúnt tbh. I always think that it's funny that we are surprised when high-achievers turn out to be single-minded. How the hell did they claw their way to the top of the...

This is a really odd memory but one night - assume I was off my head in some way - I woke up and the telly was on and there was a movie scene where someone grabbed someone's head and smashed their teeth into a mantle piece. Dunno what the film was but it was freaky. Dario Argento’s “Deep Red” possi...

Well, Westworld was pretty f'king meh, wasn't it? Bernard & William's plotlines were...just there (and sticking the only really important bit of William's plot in a post credits scene may catch a bunch of people off guard for season 4....). The Maeve/Dolores bits were ok, but I don't really feel li...

I saw they had Huckleberry Finn and his Friends from the late 70’s on Prime so dipped in just for a bit of nostalgia. It used to be on most summer holiday mornings as I remember. I ended up watching the whole thing - pretty faithful adaptation and pulled no punches considering the target audience. C...

I sort of enjoy Ozark, generally speaking, but I don’t think it’s a show worth picking over too closely. The plot lines are mostly preposterous, the character motivation quite baffling and rarely does anything seem to be taken to it’s logical conclusion.

Jeez not much craic outta that Ozark season. Same as the other seasons then. Each ep is basically 24 hours to get out of a terrible situation or your family gets dismembered/life in Supermax. There seems to be a lot of one note, relentlessly grim stuff around at the moment. What’s wrong with a bit ...
